One more thing to note here, Upon further research and with the help of Conner's Clocks, I've confirmed that the new movement in this clock was actually manufactured this year, 2021! Brand spankin new mvoement!

I'm so glad that you got it fixed and running again. It sounds the same with the chiming to me. It was a good idea to replace the movement but keep the chime rods. It's now your first repaired Seth Thomas clock in the shop! This thing has never looked any better and I love how it was rescued from the landfill/dump. Great job repairing it, Kam!

Glad to see it with a new movement and in good working condition finally! :D You made the right call to be honest, that old movement wasn't worth rescuing with those plastic gears and parts.
@DannysClocks2 жыл бұрын
@The Clock Collector Because plastic is cost cutting. :) There are much better quality movements (example: this new 340-020A) which have fully brass gears. Generally it's undesirable to have plastic in a clock movement because they're parts that wear out much faster than an equivalent part made of brass.

By looking at the original movement, I would guess maybe the spring to the balance wheel was the cause of it not working. Also I’m glad this clock is running again!
@ogClockTV2 жыл бұрын
The issue mainly was the escapement platform. You know how there are two very small metal rods that stick out towards you when looking at the back? They hang over the one small gear at the front which makes the clock tick. One of them was missing and somehow broke off.
@ceilingfansclocksminecraft12262 жыл бұрын
@@ogClockTV Oh I see. Where’s the escapement platform? Is it the balance wheel and all that mechanism? I would love to know more about that.

@ogClockTV2 жыл бұрын
I most likely will.
@JackMustang2 жыл бұрын
I have a Seth Thomas that is kind of similar to that. But has 2w holes. 1 for the running, and 1 for striking the hour & half hour. It is unfortunately unable to be fixed. The model number is E511-003. And I wonder if Hermle has a movement for that kind of clock. The chime is basically downward which is basically on the bottom of the clock. I do have the winding key as well. The pendulum does nothing, and when I move the hands, the chiming mechanism is completely broken. I can only hear the striking starter thing when I move the hand to the striking position. So, I am thinking about replacing the movement someday, but I don’t know what Hermle model will fit in that particular design clock. That Seth Thomas was built in July Of 1953; and I want to see it run again. My Uncle Dave gave it to me. And I don’t want to get rid of it. I am clock lover. And I love my clocks!
