That concrete siding is no joke, especially when trying to to do the job alone. Nothing to be ashamed of. The finished project looks great and will last for decades.

This type siding is heavy and not easy to work with but does last forever. A little caulk and paint will take those gaps right out of sight.

I'm amazed at your skill and how you are doing this without help. Quite an undertaking.

It takes a lot longer working alone for sure. But it's doable with planning.

Well done all that heavy siding by yourself. None of those gaps are so bad that more trim can't hide them.

The concrete siding is rather heavy. after a few sheets of that I was over it. In the spring I will need to go back and finished the outside.

Good good good! They cover fast, they're durable in an actual wall system like yours (and not left exposed like whoever built the carport where I live) and they look nice. Thank you for this video!

Looks good Seth! A buddy of mine used that on their home. It’s very durable and looks great once painted.

Thank you. It's heavy to install but I really like the lifespan. Should long outlast me.

This is an excellent video Seth. I will be using this for my 16x40 cabin and I will more than likely be doing it alone as well. Excellent.

It's a lot of work alone. But sure does last a long time. Much better than t11 siding.

Really cool vid Seth, as always. I appreciate how you show us "mistakes" this is in inverted commas because, are they? We worry so much about making things perfect. If it works, if it does not cause long term issues, if the end result is good....then we did well. In Australia I have a client, a builder who I install kitchens, wardrobes etc for. He gets upset if I have a 2mm gap in my fillers. This to me is quite acceptable and fixable with a little shmoo (caulking). To achieve what you have here alone, kudos brother. Keep the awesome video coming. Cheers.

I could not imagine building with a 2 mm tolerance. I'm more like a 20 mm tolerance type builder. Perhaps with a lot more practice. I will get better at installing things like concrete siding. But for now it is certainly sufficient for this size building in the middle of the woods. Thank you for writing and watching the videos.

Nice work. If you get the chance and care about it, battens will make it look really nice.

Yes that will make it look nice! I won't do that until the spring most likely. Although making this building pretty will likely be after a carport build.

Doesn't it need a z flashing in between boards when stacking?

Can you give us a material cost breakdown and your opinion of it's quality? Please?

These concrete sheets are going for $35-$45 in my area. I have this on a building from 8 years ago and its doing perfectly. The material is heavy but works well.

Did you leave a small gap between the siding and the z-bar?
@sethcraftworkshop
@sethcraftworkshop Жыл бұрын
Not on this build. It's probably good practice to add an 1/8" gap there.
@inmyimage1081

@@sethcraftworkshop it’s actually a requirement per their installation guidelines because it can wick water and if there isn’t a gap the water will just get trapped behind the board and soak into the board which can result in swelling, staining or even causing the surface finish to come off. You might want to consider running a circular saw along the bottom to create the gap. Set to the proper depth you shouldn’t damage the z-bar but you could always run it a bit shallow and finish using a razor knife.

hello seth thanks for sharing your authentic expierience once again unlinke many other youtubers who just upload the things that went perfect! it has been great for me to learn with you! one question that i wanted to ask you for quite some time: is english your mothertounge? to me your pronounciation sounds a littlebit as if you are a german speaker! (not meaning you have this funny german accent, but meaning your way of speaking is such nice and pure english as if you learned it as a secound language or if you were a teacher) greetings from austria! staubi

Thank you for watching the videos. Yes, I like to share at least a few of my mistake. Seems to me as though That helps people to see what could happen during an install. English is my first and only language. I believe because I grew up in the deep South then moved to the West and then moved to North Carolina. My accent has been influenced by multiple regions of the United States.
