I have been wearing this shoe since it came out in 2017. Albeit they are the version one of the shoe, but it does make me feel faster. I wore them recently at the Berlin Marathon and got a PR by 17 mins of 2:59:17. Three weeks later I ran a half marathon and ran 1:24 and a 4 min PR. I intend to wear the Vaporfly 4% Flyknit in NYC next weekend for the marathon. Big love from London, UK for the channel!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of those. I had a 10k race just before they arrived. I finished in 39:39. I was totally wrecked and took me 10 days to feel recovered enough to train with no limitations. Then I had another 10k race exactly 2 weeks after the previous which I run with the vapors. The course was a bit harder and my freshness was still way far from 100%. Finishing time: 39:09. So 30 seconds I can only attribute to the shoes. I even was able to negative split my race. Sorry haters but I cannot believe that this result is coming from any sort of placebo effect. I am 51 years old and I am running semi completivelly since I was 16. I am not new to the game. These are the fastest shoes I ever had by a landslide.

Hey you. First of all, I am from Brazil, then Sorry my poor English. I hope you guys understand me. Seth, I have to say that your videos are amazing for me. I am an amateur runner that find happiness where once has sadness (running helps me with my depression). Watch the way you talk about running shoes are so good. You speak slow (and It is very important for me) and in a easy way. In July 28th I will run my first Marathon and I am in doubt about two shoes that I use most on my trainning: Pegasus Turbo 35 and New Balance Zante V4. Your video about Pegasus Turbo was amazing and I am considering use it, but I still dont know. Maybe your subscribers can say their opinnion too. It will be a pleasure to read them. So, I just want to say thank you, Seth. Greetings from Brazil!!

Have 45 miles in the Zoom Fly Flyknit, priming for marathon on 11/03. The Vapor 4% is lighter, but didn’t want to spend another $90 for that. For me, my favorite part about the carbon fiber plate is distributed pressures. I don’t feel every pebble or crack in pavement, lets feet last longer.

I’ve never heard anyone else make that observation about the CF plate, but it does make sense. I’ll have to remember that in the time trial tomorrow 🙌🏼

Hey Seth, I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately and I know you may not see this comment. I am curious if you recommend these or the turbos for a shoe I can race a half marathon in and also do some speed workouts in. Don’t want them to give out too quickly and the turbo and 4% are now the same price. I’ll be in Boulder in a couple weeks to visit my gf at CU. Love it out there. Thanks for the great videos!!

I 100% believe they are making them faster. I think letsrun.com did a extensive study using strava and comparing marathon improvement time when Runner’s switched to the 4%. Might be wrong on the source but I did read it. I also think other companies are fixing to catch up to Nike with carbon fiber plate.....fly

Every video I see on the 4%, describing the dynamics of the shoe, reminds me of the Hoka ATR 1 I've used in the past (based on the Hoka Clifton 1). Hoka used the term "meta-rocker", Nike refers to the carbonplate. I can understand the lower profile and Nike foam gives "the extra sauce".
@SethJamesDeMoor6 жыл бұрын
Extra sauce indeed! Thanks for the comment! I’ll have to think a little more on the ATR comparison.
@pitchmeupscotty6 жыл бұрын
At higher paces the ATR really wanted to continue the motion and"rock-over" towards the tip of the shoe, which was great if you wanted to go fast (very stiff shoe as well). I have a feeling the 4% generates the same motion with the carbon plate? The downside of the ATR for me was that with the 5mm drop, it worked against you when you were tired and running slow (and after all I'm a heel striking, long distance, slooow guy....). Good luck with the channel, sir!

Hey, Seth! So it seems that the 4% is the premier race day shoe. However this shoe, and many nikes in general, run fairly narrow. I wouldn’t say I have wide feet, but they definitely aren’t narrow enough to fit properly in this shoe. So I love the fit of my Altras, but I don’t think they’re a race day go to for speed. That being said, what would you say is the 4% race day equivalent for those with a wider foot? Thanks.

I have it and ran Amsterdam Marathon in it last weekend. To answer the question.. does it make me run faster? Hmm.. nah. Well, maybe as a byproduct. For me it is more about making it easier to ran at my race pace. Maybe I am running a few secs faster but more importantly, I am running it more easily. My training, form etc are preventing me running faster in it.. but man.. it is easy to run at a good speed and hold that speed.

I just do as much barefoot as I can. But everything is so flat anyway so I’m not sure if it’s that profitable . Modern world isn’t made for feet I guess. Don’t know why shoes have to be pointy tho. If only I knew earlier that most shoes misalign our feet I wouldn’t have such weird feet. Just trying to repair as much as possible and keep injury free. Btw could Nike not have contributed to Rupps foot condition?
