Am seeing the way your real world 3D printing skills are progressing: pretty much spot on for everything, but the ankle part is tough to get right. With normal sneakers, it's either a knit material or heavily padded, so it can stretch and compress to be a near perfect, comfortable fit, but 3D printing with relatively stiffer material leaves no tolerances. You have to get a perfect fit or it's only a matter of time before the shoe is unwearable/unbearable.

I really think you should use modelling clay to make the designs for your shoes, personally I just think your sketches don’t translate that well to 3D. Don’t get me wrong I like the sketches but I think as it’s a 2d medium they just look way more balanced than they do in 3D. Love the content tho!

I'd love to see how far you can take this. Like maybe just make the upper with a 3d printer then attach a vibram or margom outsole and assume with apthcry you've got access to some cool suppliers so maybe have the inside made of a knit that can be attached then throw in a cork insole and with a 3d printed top and your golden.

Love the idea and what a great way to prototype and take some learnings to fine tune. I'd you can figure out the ankle, you definitely have something. I don't like the shiny look (not a big fan of patent leather shoes either), but if you added some kind of texture like the Adifoam Superstars, that would be sick.

Make a light adjustment on the shoe itself by putting a thick bump on the lower part so that it'll act as a double sole for it then it'll probably lessen the stress on your heel Also the ankle part i think you can improve it by putting a skeletal structure of a back rim on your soles so that your ankle would be cushioned. You're working with 3d printed materials here so it's a no brainer to actually realize some parts require more reinforcement than the real material counterparts which means you can tinker with it a bit more to actually give better comfortability. Also i know i'm kinda dragging this thing down with the soles but i think you should make it so that you have a 2 part sole rather than just one which means you have the cushion+ankle rim sole on the lower part of the shoe then a separate sole preferably with a slightly bit more dense yet thin top sole to give a much more cushion-y and reinforced feel to it
