The 10 character in the VIN would actually be the correct year for parts and application. For example the car may be made the 8th month of 2017 but would in fact be a 2018 vehicle for all important parts and application information. The only time the exact date of manufacture would matter is if there was a split vehicle production for that full year and things were different between an exact set of dates.

I've been slowly upgrading my car audio system for 5 years, I've ended up coming across EXO, jacobviral, lifeofprice etc and now have become a basshead. There is a whole nother world to car audio other than pioneer speakers. There is the sound quality scene with 3 way speakers from boutique brands like focal, JL and much more, then there is the SPL market people going for max output, using Skar audio, B2 audio, sundown, deafbonce and more. Here in Australia no one imports most of these brands, in America access to this stuff is easy and if I lived in US I would have a insane system :)

It's all about his editing style. He's said before that when he films and edits he is constantly looking for the story he's going to tell. The reason we all find him doing chores and installing car electronics compelling is because he makes a story out of it. Take this for example. There's the beginning about building Alexander's van in the first place, the middle about the problems he's been having, introduce Seth's background in car electronics, the problem with compatibility, and then a solution and climax with the stereo install is 100% functional. It's simple, but really engaging. Seth's the master at finding a good story to tell in seemingly mundane footage and tasks. It also helps he's got a on camera presence. Alexander is also really good at this as well.

This is awesome to see. I also got my life started working at a car stereo shop. Back when double din radios were huge and subwoofers were all the craze. Lots of dual battery set ups. Sound deadening. Etc. funny to see how people who like to tinker always tinker.

Dude, you didn’t say that in your Q,n,A when we asked you what you did before youtube... (that you worked with stereos)

Yessir, I just watched one of the Howcast vids and actually learned something. Specifically that you should overlap the HPF and LPF frequencies on you car audio amplifiers so there's no dead zones in your sound.

From an ex-MECP installer (haven't installed in 10 years now besides my own projects) I'm so cool to find out my favorite MTB KZbinr speaks in 12 volts. Also , I knew I couldn't have been the only guy with a plastic tub full of random wires! I only get in there once a year but when I do there's a 50% chance I find the wire I need.

I only just recently started watching you as I've just now started to get into mountain biking. But I've been into car audio for about 5-6 years and audio itself even longer. Crazy thing is I briefly remember seeing younger you on Howcast, given I was just a young kid watching KZbin videos about speakers because I thought it was cool. Now here I am watching possibly the same guy talk about MTB. Small world.

Someone needs to start a support group for former car stereo installers / bike riders. I still hear viper bulldog and code alarm sirens ringing in my ear. Also... nice work @seth

Them Channellock crimps are the way to go! I still have mine from when I installed car stereos 20 years ago.
