I’m just glad you went this way instead of “this season I’m going to ride an entry-level budget bike” and then pop up with a $4000 bike. I’ve unsubscribed to at least two channels for that. I admire nice bikes, but I don’t like being told stuff that costs more than my car is entry level. Custom bikes are worth what you’re willing to pay and are awesome.

I recently bought by most expensive bike ($6000 CAD) on sale for $4200. They salesman referred to it as dirt cheap. Disgusted me. I lost an entire nights sleep debating if I should drop that kind of cash and spent hours justifying it, Couldn't believe the Spec I wanted (marzocchi and fox float with deore drivetrain) was in that price bracket, but figured I deserved it as I have made my way after years of ridindg 90's bikes and other entry level modern bikes. It cost almost as much as my ATV and this guy called it dirt cheap. really rubbed me the wrong way, however Im happy with the bike but we are getting way to comfortable calling these bikes cheap or entry level.

I work at a bike shop and whenever we have brake hose rattling in the frame we wrap a zip tie around it and leave the tail uncut, so when you push it into the frame it pushes against the sides and stops the rattling.

I'm not even that short, 5' 10". I loved switching to 165 cranks from 175. Combined with slim pedals, I can actually spin up and put power down when I'd often be half ratcheting to avoid strikes before. A "DH" focused upgrade that helped me a ton in my XC riding. Also great for DH!

Your new bike looks great, and titanium is a perpetually cool material in an industry that leapfrogged it and went straight to CF. But I'd need it to have a rear shock. I've never ridden a hardtail that I didn't wish were full-suspension. I admit hardtails' classic double-triangle geometry is...well...classic, and aesthetically pleasing, and the acceleration is very direct, but riding over a single tree root is enough to remind me why full suspension is better. A suspension fork is useful for avoiding breaking your wrists on a hard landing, but it's too far away from the seatpost to do anything useful for the vast majority of your weight. And before anyone mentions a suspension seatpost, they don't do any good if you're standing. Regarding the titanium cranks, PLEASE tell me you applied anti-seize compound to that large bolt before installing it. Titanium cold-welds like nobody's business, and without anti-seize you may never get that bolt out again. *EDIT:* Oh good, you did. I see the anti-seize at 3:48. When you said the bike cost over $12,000, I nearly shat myself. The most I've ever spent on a bike was a third that much, and that was a Christini AWD bike.

Unless you're being paid off by a brand, why would you reapply stickers to the shocks? (1:40) You wouldn't tattoo an Adidas logo onto your body, so why do this to the bike? Imagine buying into the corporate brand as lifestyle koolaid so much that you shill them even on a personal project. Color matching doesn't make it any better lmao . Really detracts from the frame artwork as well. A bike as god-tier as this shouldn't have any branding, it should be kept clean from distractions like that. I really admire about what he said that he’s work basically his whole life to be able to afford a bike like this. Steel is real, but ti is fly. Went for a long XC ride the other day and some little brat said my bike couldn't have been very good because it only has 70mm of travel and his bike has 150mm and he'd never heard of the brand. It's a Funk La Ruta titanium softail. Oh well. I carried on my 50mi ride unperturbed by the lack of brand recognition that my bike had with a snotty little grom.
