Suggestions: Slip a piece of inner tube over the pipe to prevent scratching. This is more important if you hang the bike by the frame than if you use the seat. (I suppose you could use the skin from the snake but I'd recommend using the inner tube.) Also, consider using composite decking when the wood decking gets too many splinters. Pressure-treated southern yellow pine is really lousy decking. Composite lumber is more expensive but worth every penny.

Nice build Seth! One thing I would advise for future projects is the use of concrete around the posts you bury. Reason being is Termites and wood having the tendency to rot when buried. A bag of pre mixed Quick Crete is only a few extra dollars and makes a huge difference to the longevity of what you build. You might have thought of this and didn't want something so permanent, which is totally fine. You can also buy a coating for the ends of the posts you bury to keep them from decaying, too. PS: Stain or finish on the wood might not be a bad idea either. :D

He did say he was going to sell the house though. Maybe that is why he did not do that. Much easier to dig up a bit of wood than getting concreate out of the ground if the new owner does not like it.

Nice job! That is a super deluxe wash station. I sunk a post in my back yard the week I bought my house, 18 years ago for this very task. Installed a heavy duty hook, and it was off to the races. Over the years I've washed tons of bikes, golf clubs and garden tools with this wash station. One of the best ideas I've had. On the back side, opposite the bike hook, is the can smasher.

I was thinking the same thing, he made a great project. Holes a little deeper, level it, then a small amount of dirt so the bottoms of the lumber are out of the concrete so water in the wood can drain through, then concrete to fill the rest of the hole. I also like other's suggestion of course gravel under the platform to reduce run off erosion.

That set up is definitely sweet. Your carpentry work looks good and you can ask 5 carpenter's to each build a box of the same dimensions and they'll each do it a little different. Only thing I noticed that may give you trouble down the road is the posts in the ground combined with excessive water use and being a natural run off for your yard. You may end up wanting to put concrete deck footings to get those posts off the ground just to prevent premature rot and sink. But what a f#$king fantastic job 💪

Seth, not sure if anyone has already suggested it, but it would be well worth it as well to put some stone crush under the platform to prevent mud build up and corrosion developing underneath. It will also help improve the drainage of the water.

Hi Seth, I made a similar design of your bike wash stand. I used old pallets that i had laying around. Luckily the pallet already had a platform like yours which makes it really easy. I then just made the bike post to hang the bike onto. This stand for me is multi purpose because it can be used for washing my bikes as well as a repair stand. which doesn’t cost anything in terms of materials.

Very nice. I'm thinking of doing one of my own. Some thoughts I have had: 1. I often clean the bike with both wheels off, and as such a couple of hooks or something to hold the wheels up and out of the way would be good. 2. Wall stand clamp to keep the bike from moving around. 3. Grip tape on platform. It will also show oil etc less. 4. Hot water supply. It's not a huge chore to fill the bucket inside, but when my situation ain't improving I'm tryin to murder everything movin', feel me? Cheers.

You know when the bassoon music comes out, Seth is about to get into some mischief. Edit: Just finished the video. I would suggest adding a removable band around the soap dispenser. I could totally see accidentally bonking it with a bike while loading and having to chase that thing down the hill.

I applaude you for your craftsmanship, but I'm still a bit concerned about the soap and grime simply rinsing into the ground, rather than into a drain. Also, is that wood coated/ weather proof. Getting it wet regularly may cause rotting.

The ground absorbs and breaks down many types of grime which is better than ending up in stormwater and then in a river, lake, etc.

FlowPublican You really have much more things to worry about than a minuscule amount of soapy water running into the ground. That’s what happens when everyone washes their cars at home and just cars driving in general tend to leak a bit of oil which gets washed into the ground. I’m pretty sure Seth rides a bike enough to offset his very tiny bit of pollution.

Great job, keep up the good work. Not sure if it has been Suggested but you should lay down some 3/4 “ mines gravel under and around your wash station , it will help reduce the erosion from the water run off.

Seth I met you Breifly in VKBike park , Nice that you are doing awsome videos, very clear , didactic, with sense of humor, I am goint to instal that squirrel powered energy system in my house maybe I can charge my phone if the squirrel is stubborn enough. After Trying a lot of methods the one that works best for me is, Starts with mixing water with bike wash on a 2 gallon garden pump sprayer to apply the soapy water, then scrub, then hose, then use a Computer duster like the "X Power A-2" for to get the water out of those hiden spots.
