Evan Superstar well In Hairspray Live Tracy escape because the guards don't want to pay for quality bars because they want to get a gas chamber. Tracy crossed her diners when they made her promise not to leave. in the 2007 movie Tracy was locked In the Pingletons basement and Penny gave the key to escape when Seaweed came. Fun Fact: to replace Good Morning Baltimore(Reprise) Hairspray 2007 added a song called I Can Wait that Tracy sings while stuck in the basement. it was cut because they thought it didn't do any effect. The audio is out there and its available for purchase with the 2007 Collecters Edition Album
