Might be a good time to mention the Irish choir group, Anúna, who they collaborated with for quite a number of songs in this game, and even some more in Xenoblade 3. They even did a music video for one of the vocal-only tracks, Shadow of the Lowlands.

@@mariotennismanactually, moebius battle was done by a japanese choir named Barzz. Barzz also did “Agnus Castle (day/night). “A Step Away” and “Where We Belong” were done by Sara Weeda of Ańuna. i couldn’t find the information anywhere but it could be Sara or someone else, someone from Ańuna did various cutscene and battle music; “Moebius,” “Ouroboros Awakening,” “Noah & N,” and “The Queens of Aionios.” one more thing, “Nia - Towards the Heavens” was done by a different boy choir called “Libera” from London

@@jackjohnson8305 The pop songs, "A Step Away" and "Where We Belong," were performed by one member of the group, and I think Agnus Castle involved them as well. (playing spoiler safe with the title of another track) "Nia ~ Toward the Heavens," also involved them pretty greatly; the voice solo you here a minute or two in was actually done by a young boy, fun fact.

Yggdrasil is one of the coolest songs in the game, especially when you consider the context in which it plays. It's such a great example of storytelling using music. You'll understand when you play though more of the game

It’s my fav area theme in the series. It gives the feeling of how the people of Alrest see this place, a holy far off place no one should enter, but when you are there it just hit very different if you know how I mean it.

Ygdrassil is easily one of favourite area soundtracks in the game. Especially because of the context where it plays. People hate on XC2 for no reason imo. Its a legendary game and together with XC1 and 3 among my favourite JRPGs ever.

Eh there were a number of questionable changes made, and I think the Gacha system for Blades was pretty much universally hated, and rightly so. I never did get KOSMOS

@@Malacite Some changes were questionable.. But I didn't mind they "collection" part of the blades. At least they were all free. And getting a legendary blade was always exciting. A lot of people compare it to Genshin Impact (hence the hate) and imo thats just wrong .. And the battle system was different but after it clicks it was really fun and deep imo. Don't forget it has a astounding story, amazing cast, beatifull world design and don't get me starting on the legendary soundtrack. People tend to forget these things and the biggest criticism I hear is "Its not like XC1" Oh and not to rub it in: But I got KOS-MOS as one of my first blades.. Didn't even realize how rare she was till I went online 🤣😉

Look, I like XC2 a lot, but to say there's no reason to dislike rhis game is just deluded. The tutorials are garbage. They interrupt you way too frequently all throughout the game even to the last chapter, they don't explain things all that well, and you can't even re-read them. This isn't even me comparing it to XC1. There are a large number of peoppe who played XC2 first who still have this complaint. They also feel the need to explain things multiple times like Blade combos, when once is enough. There are questionable UI decisions and screen clutter that, while you can get used to over time, can be overwhelming or confusing to new players. Hell, this is also a complaint I've heard about XC1, and XC2 is EVEN WORSE in this regard. There's no real reason you should have to go to the Affinity screen for you to actually get the bonus effect, and it should just apply automatically. The pouch items are particularly confusing because there are so many stores in every location that just sell pouch items of different types, when it would be way more convenient to just have them sold all at one place. Seeing all those different stores on screen and on the map makes the UI clutter worse, and you also need to even remember what is sold at each of those stores. And the map doesn't do a good job at telling you where to go because elevation plays a large part in the level design, but it's not easy to see elevation on the map. Field Skills seriously disrupt the pace of exploration. You should not have to switch up your blade setup every time you find a treasure chest or locked door just because your equipped blades don't have the exact skils needed, then swap back to your optimal setup when you're done. It should just compile the skills of all available Blades when doing those checks. The English voice acting is pretty inconsistent, especially early on. It's been confirmed by some VAs that they were given little to no context to the scenes they were voicing and didn't have time to do a lot of retakes. It is very obvious in Chapters 1 and 3, where characters are fighting to the death, but they are talking to each other like they're sitting on a park bench. This game was clearly very rushed and doesn't have a lot of the quality of life features that a 2017 release should be expected to have. I didn't even mention story and writing issues, but the biggest complaints are all gameplay related in my opinion so I'll leave it at thst. @recht_voor_zijn_raap5506

Xenoblade 2 has one of my favorite soundtracks in gaming, and these are some of my favorite songs from it. I will say that Xenoblade almost has a musical storytelling to its soundtrack, and that some songs are best heard for the first time when entering their area or encountering the scene for the first time. Kind of like Corridors of time in Chrono Trigger (if you have ever played it, also a great video game soundtrack). I would recommend avoiding The Abandoned City until you get there for this reason. This is obviously just a suggestion based from my experience playing RPG games

I don't really like rock music, but the electric guitar has a timbre that is so fascinating to me. Love to see it combined in more pensive or slow styles. Yes, I know that the instrument isn't 'made for rock', but it just tends to be associated with it.

Oh man, there are so many things I would love to say in response to your comments about Yggdrassil, but I will refrain for the sake of spoilers. One thing I can point out however, in regard to you commenting about Xenoblade 2 potentially having "more" references to mythology, there was actually a pretty massive allusion to religion in Xenoblade 1 that you may have missed. Specifically, the main parts of the story heavily relate to the religion known as Gnosticism, which to try and keep brief, is a Christianity spin-off that dates all the way back to the first century. The main thing you need to know is that they believe our world was not created by the god that Christians think of. Instead, everything in existence is a part of that almighty, supreme being known as the "Monad". At some point, a being known as the Demiurge split from the Monad and either maliciously or ignorantly, depending on the interpretation, created us and our material world to rule over. Another fallen "piece" of the Monad, known as Sophia, is a complicated being but basically just the foil to the Demiurge, and opposes him and gives humans a chance at salvation. I would image that story sounds pretty familiar. Alvis/the Monado, Zanza, and Meyneth are directly based off of those three entities and the creation of the world and its early history is meant to mirror it directly. Another mirror is that Vanea says that the Monado is more than a weapon, it is "the light within each and every person in the world." In Gnosticism, it is said the reason we can go to "heaven" (return to the Monad) is because when the Demiurge created us, Sophia put a "piece" of the Monad inside each of us, which when we die returns to where it came. Gnosticism is obviously way more complex and the Demiurge and Sophia are way more complex than my summary, but that is the main gist of what is relevant to the game. Also, Egil's mech, Yaldabaoth is also a name that comes from Gnosticism, and to put it as simply as possible, is basically another name for the Demiurge so less of a direct relation and more of a cool reference. I won't say or give any hints to what it is, but X2 also has some major themes and story beats that mirror a similar philosophy to Gnosticism and is definitely something worth hearing about once you beat the game and it isn't a spoiler anymore.
