Because you mentioned it in the vid, yes, Mechanized Memories is a remix of Remember from AC: 4 Answer; but it is only used in those two games. The Armored Core 4 and 5 series are loosely connected and it’s implied 5 takes place a few centuries after AC4. Fans think the song is called Mechanized Memories because the enemy boss Armored Core’s AI pilot, J, is believed to be a ‘clone’ of Joshua O’Brian, who the the first pilot of the Armored Core White Glint. White Glint’s theme from AC: 4 Answer is ‘Remember’. Sorry, long explanation, but this is the main reason when this song is a remix.

So, FreQuency is From Software's in-house band. The members changed around a few times, but the mainstay is of course Kota Hoshino. The band also features Tsukasa Saitoh and Yuka Kitamura, who've composed for a few small games like Bloodborne, the Dark Souls series, and Elden Ring.

Mechanized Memories is such a good moment because the final boss of Verdict Day is a horrific reconstruction of the main character of AC4, while also being piloted by a corroded clone of another character from 4. The central plot of VD involves the mystery of the Towers, mysterious giant structures said to contain untold powerful ancient technology. What’s revealed in these is the Kojima Particle technology of AC4 that endangered the entire world to begin with. Seeing a NEXT as the final boss while you’re in an extra shitty regular Armored Core is insane. It adds so much good fanservice in this one fight and sells you on just how much effort you have to use to defeat this thing that you breezed through AC4 with. Your weapons can’t even damage it until it uses up its barrier on a move from For Answer, meaning people who played that already know what to do about it.

Fromsoft had me frozen with goosebumps twice within the span of a handful of years on final bosses. First when I heard this remix kick in as a frankensteined NEXT appeared on my screen, and second on phase 2 of Soul of Cinder. Wonderful moments. Super hyped for 6.

I may blow your mind right now in saying, the bassist of FreQuency is also the vocalist. So the only voice you hear in most AC tracks is also the bass player, which, considering how garbled up and garage-esque everything sounds, is very impressive actually.
@vulkanxl
@vulkanxl Жыл бұрын
As for why the lot of the songs are bass heavy, you are correct about the composer loving bass, he always plays the bass when they perform live. Also the vocals you hear in these songs is the composer himself singing, Kota Hoshino. FreQuency is his band and its also just straight up the Fromsoftware sound team comprising of other composers including of the souls games. This song and remember were just composed by Kota Hoshino but there are some FreQuency songs that aren't.

I've been playing this whole franchise since FromSoft announced AC VI two months ago. I can assure you that the soundtrack from these games have some of the most unexpectedly original and catchy songs I've heard on a video game in a long time, it has all kind of genres and styles, some of which I don't recall hearing them before. related to the game itself, each entry could be considered a reboot, since they change the plot context and the gameplay on every installment, specially after AC IV. If you ever plan to play it, I recommend to emulate them. There are 15 installments in total but none of them have been re-released on new consoles or pc (mecha games are still really niche) and their price skyrocketed since the announcement of the new sequel. Furthermore, until the late ps2 games all the games had tank controls, so even that it's gatekeeping new players, among other fundamental aspects from AC that are pretty hard to understand and even more to master for anyone that isn't familiar with these type of games.

Each mainline game and it's sequels also has a slightly (or sometimes not so slight) different sound as well. All unique and great though tbh. It's a kind of music you just can't get anywhere else.
@starhammer5247
@starhammer5247 11 ай бұрын
There's a way around the tank controls. The game gives you the option to remap the controls. Remap movement controls to the D-Pad and remap the look controls to the buttons. Remap combat and boost controls to the bumpers and triggers. It makes a world of difference.

As someone whos played almost all of the armored cores, if i had anything to describe its soundtrack is industrial/electronic almost across the board even some songs being made to feel almost orchestra like despite being entirely within those genres. Also the combat in armored core is also very fast paced the newer generations such as this one even more so.

Yeah I love Armored Core for the beautiful and unconventional soundtack for the visuals of the game and vibe. It makes it stand out in contrast in a great way. Mechanized memory is such a banger that it's one of the few tracks that even my sister put on her playlist even rhough she's never played AC. I think the garage aspect quality that you could be feeling could stem from the fact a lot of the gameplay is about being in the garage and customizing/tuning up/coloring/decaling up your AC to the way you want it and trying them out in missions.

Armored Core music is never a disappointment for its purpose. Musically, each game has its own direction, reassuring their significances and differences. If there's likely connections in things, fans will see it and hear it. Before the Soulsborne games, Fromsoft was semi known for its lots of Armored Core games. 1, Another Age, Master of Arena, 2, Ninebreaker, 3, Last Raven, Nexus, Silent Line, 4, For Answer, 5, Verdict Day, and soon 6. I probably forgot one or two in that list, but it's something like that. I've been a fan for over 20 years. You had such a freedom to play different ways or more efficiently, but a lot of the music addressed the situation and was perfect for the real rollercoaster.

I love that you're discovering the joys of the FromSoft music team when they could really let loos, opposed to their more dramatic scores on the likes of Elden Ring (the same composers, believe it or not). ACVI is going to have an extraordinary OST now that these composers have spent years honing their craft.

You'd be surprised how many of us there are out there there is plenty of Ravens we mostly keep to ourselves the game series itself is kind of quiet it flies underneath the radar for most people because it's a mech game and that's what keeps the game good because all those garbage people stay away from it

I don't know who those garbage people are but it sounds like gatekeeping to me. Thats the theme of Armored Core 5 Chaotic Industrial, even Mech design wise THEY ALL are nothing but garbage scrap(Which unfortunately a lot of people hate, including myself since the designs are too copy pasted) Also, AC5 and Verdict Days Universe took place after 4 and For Answer, but the NEXT from that game are out of order for some reason and the world starts becoming even more chaotic after the event of For Answer than before with the old generation Armored Core taking back its glory but with a LOT of mess happening like Unknown Weapons and some maniac wanting to revive the iconic first Arms Fort Spirit of Motherwill(She even had her theme remixed in Verdict Days) Also 5th Gen Armored Core are Multiplayer heavy thats why the review on AC5 and VD are VERY weak compared to fast games
