Even there, she'll be mediocre at best: 1. She joins at Lvl 11 in chapter 16 where most other Units you had previously are already promoted even if you go 20/20. 2. Takumi, Reina and Shura join before her, and Niles only a Chapter later. All of those are better Unis than she is, even if they were at the same Level which they are not. Niles, who is for some Reason also extremely weak in Relevation as he joins underleveled with sub-par Stats too, still comes with the same Speed, significantly better Res, slightly higher Def and only marginally worse HP and STR as well as 4 less SKL and LCK as Drawback. Add to that his better Utility as well as significantly higher Growths almost everywhere and she's outclassed even by weak Birthright Niles. She's only good for him as Wife if you want to give him and Nina Access to Archer to bolster their Attack, Skill and Defense at the Cost of their Healing Capabilities and lower Res by reclassing into Archer. 3. Relevation offers a significantly bigger Cast, but that doesn't translate to deployable Slots per Chapter. So the Competition to even be deployed in the first Place is even bigger.

I knew Setsuna was weak, I remember that her only stand out stat is that she will likely be faster (and maybe more Resistent too) than Takumi if you use her a little... but I never realized until now how bad she is compared with Reina, which is considered a insta-promote unit scaling-wise as far as I remember, and seeing both Setsuna's and Reina's growths... again, she will only be better in Speed and Resistence, and even then, Reina will still have the better Spd/Res as a insta-promo until Setsuna gets stats.

WOOOOOO SETSUNAAAAAA!!!! This is actually really funny. I used Setsuna as a great knight in my last run of birthright with Hana friendship to make her a Katana based enemy phase unit. Really helped out when fighting the all the berserkers towards the end of the game though her bulk in great knight still wasn't anything special, and the lower spd cap meant that towards the end of the game, she didn't hit some doubling thresholds without suppot. She was still very fun, and I recommend using her

Setsuna is just so iconic. She is always a must build for me in my birthright runs because of how funny she is. Sol Ninja Setsuna with a Corrin Berseker Backpack ! That being said I am not using her in rev. I am not that big of a masochist.

She is legit better in Rev than in BR, lol. Bows and flying are desirable in Rev, and her bases are buffed compared to her BR averages in the same level. And she gets an Arthur pair up, +7 str is so nice for her. Does this mean she is a good unit? Nope. Better than BR at least.

@@7modybu50 On Paper yes but she has to compete with double the amount of units in rev. most of them better anyways. Imo Birthright allows you to properly invest in her but in Rev she comes in super late and in a chapter that doesn't get a break after so you are already missing out on one chapter to train her unless you bring her in chapter 17 which on Lunatic is probably suicide as that chapter is ruthless. Additionaly if you don't use skirmishes Setsuna is just close to impossible to train when most of your units are promoted. you can make her work for the first few chapters starting from 18 but you will have to bench her in favor of utility/ children sadly. At least in BR she comes in early enough that you can make wacky builds with her.

@@cloudy978 as someone who trained her without using Skirmishes, you can get very close to promo in ch16 and she doesn't do that much in 17, but she can contribute and get more exp. Of course she is worse than more than half the roster, but that doesn't make her worse than her in BR. She literally joins better than a trained BR Setsuna. Also, if you want to invest everything into her, you definitely can do that if you just save everything for her, even tho I don't agree that you need to in the first place. Again, she has flight and bow, which are both insanely good in Rev, while in BR, bows are not desired that much (sadly) and flight is just useless or bad.

If you plan on doing Hana next I'm wondering how well she COULD do as a Maid? Also if Subkai does marry Setsuna, should Setsuna passdown something from the samurai friendship? I'm thinking maybe vantage could be good. Also Setsuna as a Master Ninja Pair up bot can give a S rank partner a whooping 7 speed and 1 move. Sniper pairup bot can give 2 strength and 6 speed. And Kinshi Knight gives 5 speed and 1 move.

I always thought Birthright Mozu being a bad unit was a pretty reasonable opinion as there were other Archers she had to compete with, then I remembered that Setsuna was your first archer until you get Takumi, and Mozu is a way *way* better archer than Setsuna (and probably Conquests best).

Any unit can get good with good rolls. That's part of the charm of FE when a shitty unit just get the god rolls while your good unit get an unlucky streak and you just end up using the bad unit and drop the good just due to rng.

Setsuna is such a funny unit. Like they intentionally made this mediocre archer and gave you her two chapters before you get a 10 times better archer in takumi (who isn't even that good either). They knew exactly what they were doing with her

Takumi isn't one of the best units in the late game for sure, but for when he comes around, he's definitely very strong. He's really good at reliably fixing mistakes/bad luck. Like say you failed to pick up one enemy that can then do a lot of damage to your frailer units because you missed a hit, Takumi with his great hit rate, good damage and ability to traverse rough terrain is just perfect at coming and fixing that error reliably. Even if he falls as the power level of your comp rises and he doesn't scale that well to said growth, he definitely has a big place in the early-mid game which makes Setsuna's life a hell of lot worse as she struggles to justify being used during those key early chapters, as even though she's a lot faster she deals no damage and is extremely squishy, which means she's getting left in the dust xp wise creating a negative feedback loop.

For some reason I'm not sure about, I had Setsuna marry Hinata and reclassed Setsuna to Samurai. The reason I did it is because I had already made Mozu an Archer and was about to have Takumi as one also. I wasn't sure how it would work out with her low strength, but she somehow filled the niche pretty well until Ryoma joined my team. She isn't as strong, but she's fast and that's useful in Samurai. Is she the ideal Samurai? Probably not, but she can work in that class and be usable for longer than she is in Archer.

Weirdly i've found her somewhat useful, purely because of her insanely high speed and bow use. Sadly her damage was so low that she still feel off rather... hard... but for around 2/3 of the game she at least was useful

@@q-py6zc Yeah and yet because Rev is extremely player focused and Sniper has busted player phase offense, she quickly can become a great unit for the Valla Half, especially due to her low level granting her a lot of exp per kill. Couple that with her hitting double benchmarks and Snipers bonkers skills and Bow might she easily one shots the most bulky of Valla enemies.

I used Setsuna before on lunatic as a sniper and she's ok. Not great, not even good, but ok. With her high speed, she doubles and one rounds fliers in the late game and that's already better than most modern FE bad units. She's def the worst unit in Birthright though On top of my head, units who are worse than Setsuna : Revelation Odin, Ashe in Maddening, out of house Caspar, Timerra, Anna, Bunet

Caspar isn't that bad, he has issues of course but at least he comes with bombard and can one round squishy units early on even on maddening. He's indeed probably the worst unit you can make a useful grappler, but at least he still packs good offense early game and scales well with Gappler/War master. Gauntlets also aren't hard for Byleth to train at all since they start with E+, have a boon in them, and like to use them early game for the auto double on player phase for more early game damage when needed. I think Anna is also bad, but at least she does scale well when given investment since having good magic is generally good in engage. In practice she's just Citrinne you have to put a lot more work in, but at least she preforms well with investment. If you mean three houses Anna fair though, she has far less going for her.

@@twigz3214 Agreed, I had someone point out on reddit that Caspar is better out of house than in house, and I can see it. He levels in brigand so he gets good stats, and is easy to recruit. Idk why you would recruit him bacause he's worse than any other student bar maybe Ashe, but he's better out of house than in-house In-house I still like him, he's the only black eagle except Edelgard with an actual defense stats and he scales quite well (at least in hard mode). His start is atrocious though. Def one of the worst units in the game though, I think I would rather use Setsuna in BR Lunatic than Caspar in 3H Maddening ? I'm not entirely sure tbh I meant Engage Anna, she joins too underleveled and the payoff isn't even that great when she has less speed than Boucheron at equal level. 3H Anna, yeah she's also bad

Unless a character is extremely late game, like Sigrun or Renault as some examples, they'll be just fine if you aren't playing on the crappy hard/lunatic game modes and take your time to raise a character just because you want to or like them if you aren't super anal about being a fraction as good as dondon151 because Fire Emblem is about using the characters you like. Why else did Kaga throw wave after wave of pointless units at you in FE1 when your Chapter 1 dudes and Lena are more than good enough to beat the game.
