Another one of those cases where some guys are out in the boonies doing thankless work that's probably critical to our "civilization," but no one thinks about it, yet they do the best work that they can despite none of the recognition. Appreciate your hard work, sir!

Id like to see a video of this guy's story. He mentioned he started out with a pickup and an engine driven welder and progressed to where he is now. Gotta be a cool story there. It's inspirational as i only dabble in welding projects on the side and would like to progress to where he got.

Another interesting video young man. Quarry work, dust bowls in summer and sludge/slurry holes in wet weather. I have recently picked up some work in a sandstone quarry. Repaired one end of the rotted weighbridge, got an outrigger built in the shop ready for fitting on Tuesday. Then some hard facing and plating of a chute to do.

You are a master. Before I became a pipeline welder when I was younger. I helped to build a crusher plant. We put up the hoppers, belts, shaker decks. It had four crushers, roller, hammer, conesnf whatever the other one was. Had fun when I was younger.

Years ago I worked in a number of quarries, and in those days all of that stuff was built and maintained with nothing more than a cutting torch, grinder and stick welder. It's really cool seeing it being done with "fancier" tools. Appreciate the hard work...and the videos.

Great job, keep up the amazing work and the videos coming On a side note,when those metal blades seem dull, give the rakers a couple swipes with a file (about a dime thickness between the raker and teeth) , those blades should cut almost like new

Back at the beginning of the last century they actually grew a lot of fruit in this area. Apparently it was much colder back then which allowed apples to fruit. Now the orchards are gone. My property looks like native creosote scrub but was actually an orchard about seventy years ago. I find an occasional fruit tree stump from time to time. For the most part it all looks like a native desert these days. Those cement plants are the biggest business around here since they shut down all the pot farms.
@Dudemieser

@@jamespayne8781 that's really interesting. I drive a tractor trailer and often wonder how people existed in some of the desert areas I drive, or have driven through
@jamespayne8781

@@Dudemieser for the most part people didn’t live in these areas until electricity became available. With electricity they could pump water from wells. Even today electricity is key to living in the hot arid places. There were of course scattered groups, some big ranches, some nominally successful mines. There’s an old mine further out in the desert from where that video was shot. Most people live close to one of the major road ways. If you look at satellite images you can see a whole lot of the western US is brown. There’s more un development land than developed.

I noticed you use gas powered welders. Curious, why that vs a welder on a generator? Is a welder also usable as a standalone generator? Do your trucks have a PTO genset? Might be more than one answer here and that's ok I was thinking about your chan today while figuring out how I'm gonna weld a kids playground thing (idiot home gamer here not pro)
@OFW
@OFW Жыл бұрын
Most of my equipment is diesel. Almost all engine driven welders have some type of AC generator. I chose ones that have high generator output so I can run other equipment off of it such as plasma cutters and your standard “mig” welder.
