Nice work! It’s really cool seeing two cranes work together! Also at least you were the first crane over the bridge 😉 thanks for sharing

Very well done! "Just like my paycheck, nothing to it!" Bridges on those "little narrow gravel roads" were some of my best money makers! ....13

Did a bunch of these in my area. Million dollar bridge with sidewalk in the middle of nowhere on 1 lane gravel road. Makes you wonder what is in the future.
@sandy16536 жыл бұрын
For what it's worth, the load rating on that bridge doesn't seem too far out of line. A lot of those flatbed cars would have a gross weight in the 260k lbs range, and modern ones have a gross weight up in the 315k lbs range. And most of that is down to the track structures anymore.
@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
Sandy, this one was made from two flat cars side by side, welded together and a poured concrete deck on top. I did some research before I agreed to cross it. Had I been in doubt, I would've told them no. Thanks for sharing the info! Also, thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@sandy16536 жыл бұрын
I just noticed a silly omission, those numbers I quoted are the max gross weights, not necessarily the ones they're normally loaded to. Anyhow, I figured you wouldn't have risked your neck on a bridge you didn't figure would hold up. Just thought I'd share one of those random factoids I pick up floating about the internet. A quick question: the hooks (or whatever you might call them) that the lifting straps are fixed into on those bridge beams. Are they cast into the concrete, or do they fix in and then get pulled out before the bridge deck gets put on? Anyway, thanks for taking us along.
@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
Sandy, the pick points are cast into the concrete. They are actually cable that is wrapped around the reinforcing steel inside the beam. After the beams are set, those get cut off.
@waltermattson55666 жыл бұрын
Those beams look a lot bigger when someone is right next to them. Nice video.
@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
walter mattson, they were pretty good sized beams. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@markmortensen43416 жыл бұрын
When you look at those beams, the first looks level but the second and third makes it look like they are lower on the left side. I know they aren't but the camera sure makes it look awkward. Thanks again for your video even if you get a little forgetful about turning the camera on. lol 🤪🤪🤪🤣‼️

Mark Mortensen, I think it was an optical illusion caused by the skew of the bridge foundation. Sometimes, I get caught up in work and it interferes with my footage gathering. Lol! Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

all bridges have a crown last right and last left are youre lowest ones next one raise up about 3 1/2 inches middle one is youre highest one

Each one of those flat cars are capable of holding 150+ tons each./////// In tight situations like your last pick (thanks for slowing down the vid and showing how delicate you were), do you ever do watch what needs to be done and do accordingly, or do you solely look at and do what the signalman says?
@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
G4 Outdoors, that's alot of weight those little cars can handle! When it comes to signals, it just depends. If I see something safety related, I will ignore the signal and stop. Otherwise, I pretty much just follow the signals. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

This is something new for Missouri??? The last time I spent some time down there in the early-mid 90s. We had to drive across most creeks and the bars still had dirt floors. Missouri is going 21st century!

That's the second time on a bridge job the truck got stuck. It didn't look muddy this time. I guess it's the weight and not mud huh?

Mary Feiden, it was the weight and incline. Bridge jobs are notorious for getting trucks stuck. Thanks for watching, mom! 🙂👍

I wonder why they had that smoking truck sitting there running in the background? Seems they could have shut it down until they had a use for it.
@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
l wilton, there was a pile of bush burning a few hundred feet beyond the truck. It just looks like the smoke is coming from the truck. If you go back and watch the video when I first pulled up to the site, you may see the bush pile burning before the truck gets backed in there. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@lwilton6 жыл бұрын
Ah, thanks. That does make a good bit more sense. I saw the smoke in the first scenes and at first thought the other crane was smoking, but that just didn't seem real likely. Then I saw the truck and it looked like it was smoking. Didn't realize it wasn't there in the first shots.
