The offseason is over and Its time to get the crab pots in the water! Opening Day for FV Miss Paula is here and The Chesapeake Bay makes a glorious appearance with a stunning day wrapped around her. See the boys hard at work, scrambling, & hustling... simply getting it done. With excitement for the season in their step, a decision is made on a deep water strategy due to a cold spring and the concern if the crabs will be active due to low water temperatures.
Welcome to Crabbers, a Cinematic Vlogumentary of life as a commercial crabber. Focused on the Fishing Vessel Miss Paula and her crew, we climb aboard to experience the waterman's life on the Chesapeake Bay. It is a hard, tough profession, but the water calls to those of us who have an indescribable yearning to go wether its for livelihood or recreation. This is for fisherman, boaters, nature enthusiasts and seafood lovers. These crabbers get to see amazing nature and wildlife on a daily basis and have tremendous insight into the happenings of the Bay. We want to pass on the knowledge, tell the stories, and show the wildlife from real waterman, real crabbers, real people. Nothing scripted, just captured. We hope to entertain, enlighten and welcome you to join us in this celebration of The Chesapeake Bay.

We are enjoying these so much! Great photography-good balance between close ups of Captain and crew, drone shots and views of water, sky, birds, etc. We like the mix of chatter from the crew and information/answers to questions from CJ, too.

I live on the water near point lookout Maryland and I use chicken necks off my dock to catch them and I have pots, great deal as the males are good eating and often I get peelers which are great bait attached or on the pylings of my dock a

FV Miss Paula looks like you’ve come a long way. I had to do a double take when I saw the name. Kinda weird it just popped up on my feed 20 years after working on the original boat. Whoever made the video did a good job too 👍🏼

So what do I have todo to start this kinda business...
@FVMissPaula
@FVMissPaula 2 жыл бұрын
Short answer is you have to buy a license, boat and atleast 1000 crab pots. If I had a 100k to spend I would put it in the stock market when it bottoms out next year. You'll be a millionaire sooner.

How far away do you have to stay from other people's pots? Are there actual regulations or just etiquette?
@FVMissPaula
@FVMissPaula 4 жыл бұрын
No regulations but try to give each other room. With underwater lines we can't cross each other.
