Thank you for this video! I just finished setting two clothesline poles in my backyard to cut down on energy use. Used your video as a guide.

Awesome....I have to set a single galvanized metal fence post into concrete to mount an electronic weather station.....and this was exactly what I was looking for, for an easy way to level my pole. Thank you

Will the post gets rusty in contact with cement .?

Surprising how few videos exist for how to do this with a metal post. I have something similar in mind, but my post is square so I'm considering putting a square wooden collar around it which can freely slide up and down and then using that to screw into for leveling.

I tought I was the only one that couldn’t find any videos like you mention.I tought I was using the wrong “words” to search. I’m also going to use a square post.
@AverageCarGuy Жыл бұрын
@@Alexlivingloud I ended up using two saw horses, one on each side, and then bracing the post with two pieces of 2x4 and about 4 wood clamps. Worked like a charm!

Thank you for the video. My pole must go 1m into the grown, do I place the concrete at the bottom, middle or top? The pole will still be 2m above ground.
@First_Class_Amateur Жыл бұрын
I placed the pole to the correct height first, then poured in the concrete.

@First Class Amateur Hi, I found your video interesting. I have a mast totalling 7FT made of 60x60x5mm box section steel. I have to put a one metre 70x70mm piece of box section into the ground which the main mast will fit into. I am unsure of how wide or what length to dig the hole. I think yours looks adequate for my ground sleeve and the mast. The mast will only be holding 2 x 20 Ft aluminium scaffold poles which will be guyed. I just don't want to dig too big a hole and use too much materials. Any help or advice appreciated as I've never did this before
@First_Class_Amateur3 жыл бұрын
This is general advice from Quickcrete. “Dig post hole so diameter of the hole is 3 times the width of the post (i.e., the hole for a 4” wood post should be about 12 inches wide). The depth of the hole should be 1/3-1/2 the post height above ground (i.e., a 6-foot tall fence would require a hole depth of at least 2 feet).” I would go deeper depending on how much tension will be placed on the mast. These pole have a lot of tension and the middle one slipped forward a little after time.

@@First_Class_Amateur thank you for the advice the main mast is around 5 feet above the ground. i plan to put a metal sleeve in at a metre deep for the main section to slide in/out of and have dug a hole 2 1/2ft x 2 1/2ft and 1 metre deep.. dunno if i should build a small cage inside with rebar for the concrete truck arriving?

Hello, Please what are the size of the poles and do you have any metal rod in the concrete?

I'm planning to re-do our batting cage similar to yours. May I ask what is the diameter of your pipes? Looks like 3 or 4 inch?
@First_Class_Amateur3 жыл бұрын
I think they were six inch. The cables get a lot of tension, so they need to be substantial. I’ll do an update soon.

I have a question I hope you can answer it for me. I need to solder small copper wire together what can I use to make it stay the color as copper. I've been using silver solder past it works great but I don't wanna use the sterling silver past I want the color to all be copper in color!

Those are some sexy poles. (That's what she said.) Thanks for the video. I'm installing a ham radio antenna, with a heavy, galvanized steel post as the in-ground support. This was helpful for an idea of how to support it while the concrete mix sets up.
