2023 is almost over! It feels like this year has just FLOWN by, and I've learned a lot. There are a lot of changes that I want to my content and my business strategy going forward, and to reduce overwhelm, I use what I call a "phase system" to plan out the transition and focus on a handful of projects at a time.

I realize that some people don’t believe that ADD is a real problem, but hearing that you have been able to plan so well, since you were so young makes this 63 year old accept that actual planning will never be my thing. Omg you read my mind! It reminds me of the main difference when I’m medicated for my ADHD vs when I’m not -the ability to plan and simplify my larger goals into smaller steps (sometimes that goal is just cleaning my studio space lol). I want to do them all at one time.

I feel the same. I want to start so bad, but I find it all very overwhelming as a neurodivergent person. I can't seem to organise my thoughts and ideas to create a plan. I simply domt know where to start. My brain looks at everything like one big chunk with no beginning or end.

I just want to say…. I’m AuADHD and I see some of myself in her process. I wouldn’t assume that she isn’t neurodivergent. Just because our brains work different, doesn’t mean we can’t learn how to be organized and break our goals down into bite sized steps, we just have to work harder! She has been at this for awhile so it may look like she has it figured out but she has just been going for it and that is how you do it, you just do it. ❤

Share your art goals under my comment! NO goal is too small or too grand! I turn 30 next year and have a list of "30 new things I want to do in my 30th year of life." There are several art-related goals on there including... 1.) I want to make a little free art stand and hopefully place it outside my local library. 2.) The local library has a rotating art exhibit where local amateurs can display art and I want to get into that rotation 3.) There are 4 gallery shows I want to get into because I've never displayed in a formal gallery.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic. Setting clear, achievable goals is so important, especially when working on large projects. I'm very visual (right-brained) so I have a massive corporate-sized whiteboard on wheels in my studio - and it successfully served as my taskmaster for the last book I illustrated. Friends laughed at me when I bought it - but I'd reached a standstill in production because I could not conceptualize or prioritize the book in my head or just notes on paper, it had become too convoluted. That whiteboard was my little studio miracle. Now, I'm planning next year's (2024) project on it and I'm getting so excited! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

I've been doing artist alley type events for like 10 years and I'm SO READY to try and make the move to more online presence and online shop. I feel like i plan but in reality im like 30% the way there. I have products, i have my domain, I have my events and my set up for those but working on my website and getting new merch made for it is tough and even tougher is the social media! I'm terrible at making videos (since pictures are drowned by the algorithm) I'm gonna try this phase system going into 2024 I feel not giving myself deadlines or clear goals is making it more overwhelming than it needs to be.

I've really only just dived into short form here on KZbin. I am a very tiny art vlog channel so my videos mostly get views from friends and family and don't see much traffic. But since I was already making videos for TikTok it wasn't that hard to switch over to the KZbin app and upload here too! It's slow going but my view count has gone up drastically and I'm noticing an uptick in subscribers now too!

I really enjoy your videos I lately came to the conclusion that I want to create Art because it was something I wanted to do as a child but never really took serious until now That's why I started drawing 1 Month ago and because I'm already kind of into community building I came to the conclusion that I'm going to do a rebranding around drawing and my kind and my Journey on how I learn to draw But first I wanted to see if people were doing the things I wanted to do or something similar to see if there is a market for something like that after that I was looking around for creators I found you and wow you are doing exactly what I wanted to do creating videos around art and business, and you even have a newsletter so you're also dipping into online writing one aspect I am also trying to mix into my content because writing can be so valuable, and it has so much potential to be leveraged in so many ways. Sadly, I'm not able to write as much as I did 1 Month ago because my main focus currently is on learning how to draw. In your Video you talked about that you wanted to create more short form content a little later you also talked about filming short videos with your phone to always be able to post short form content when needed you can also do the same with your Long form Content you can try to repurpose your Long Form content into short form content this is something I always did with my newsletter, I just focussed on creating my newsletter, and after I was finished I Took the big ideas and concepts out and repurposed it into short form. I'm really Looking forward to what you are doing because you are able to give me soo many relatable solutions, I am SO grateful that I found your content. Your Phase Planning system really inspired me, I will also plan my journey with that system.

I love the idea for a podcast. I have seen KZbin creators have a section that are podcasts like a talking head part (so they can monetize it). Interesting you want to strategize your art into your business. It’s very business minded which is kinda opposite of alot of creatives. 1st the art then the business. Some artists don’t attract a big audience via their art too much but if they talk business then it attracts. That’s what I have noticed. I am sure you’ll find a happy medium in time. Thank you for sharing your future goals. It’s definitely a learning process to follow along from your experience.

You have been a huge inspiration for me this year ❤ What would you say when it comes to goal setting for a year? I set some pretty big goals for this year, as many people said think big when goal setting. But now I didnt meet those goals making me feel really sad / like a looser. Now I dont know how realistic I should be with my goals for 2024. When it comes to all eggs in one basket: Yeah, like totally. I also want to start my own shop and selling courses etc., but I think Im not quite there yet, as my YT views still flucutate too much. One thing I learnt when reading about ADS paralysis is trying to cut down a goal, to make it more achievable for you. Im gonna try to do this more, instead of procrastinating because all feels too overwhelming. I tried out short form content out for a few months but it just wasnt for me as I dislike the platforms and my content didnt perform well there, as you have to post daily. The stress of that was too much for me

The one thing I can say that I find that it shouldn't be is easy. Everything only becomes "easy" if you do something over and over and over again. If something is too easy, it feels like a waste of time sometimes. Not everything is like that, but it can happen. Easy things aren't bad but some things that are easy are more questionable than the ones that challenge you.

I would say my opinion, I hope it will be useful, I think you should have a separate art channel? I don’t know, but I do different type of art. In before your personality type is a Ni or Si dominant- indicating either ISFJ, INFJ, INTJ or ISTJ. Im eliminating the ISTJ off the list solely by way you speak but the others still very likely.. if none of those I’d point outlier potentials as INFP, ISFP or less likely extroverted ENFP. @@KelseyRodriguez i wanted to say INTJ off the bat since I don’t hear much feely talk over effectiveness talk and you said I’ve always been good at organizing and making elaborate plans, and you talk of having back ups, and you said you had a vision- but I didn’t wanna tunnel you in too quickly 😂. I am the same and have wanted to be a full time artist supporting myself and a fam doing my own thing from a young age as soon as I could pick up a pencil. I’m just consistently trapped or roadblocked in terrible situation or circumstance that’s slowing my progress down immensely :( I HAVE THE PLAN if EVERYTHING ELSE would GTF out the WAY lol! Pls 😅🥹 Currently finances be blocking me as I need a tablet that I can take on the go and doesn’t depend on phone or monitor to function- so I don’t get location locked or phone dying out too quick while I’m outside of the house with my little. For now however I am just creating rough draft semi completed bases or theme sets on sketch books so when I get that tablet - all I need to do is just get the art scanned in - saved - and then open up the file - edit to my liking and save as alternate file so that way I can make as many different versions of the base as I’d like and be able to skip that step. Then once pieces are fully complete and cleaned up - onto the product merchandise they go! I WILL GET THERE!

I think mayyybbbeee you're over complicating it! Youre not thinking like an artist, youre thinking like a business woman which is fine! It got you this far, but you're kind of like, the manager to your own self? You havent unlocked yourself as an artist yet, you're managing someone who doesnt quite exist yet. Maybe take a break from managing and OVERmanaging to just mess around and post without schedule and make random art that is nothing like what you're used to. Because your art is pretty traditional, it also feeds into my idea that you're far more business minded than art minded. You seem quite stuck in a box. Just my opinion though and I could be COMPLETELY wrong!! My advice is, dont take yourself so seriously, yes this is a business but this is still an ART business. You need some organic, childlike and random creativity to take the next step. -from someone who was in the same position :]

I agree, I've also struggled with this before I realized that if i wanted to make this a fulfilling career i needed to know my own voice before... sometimes I like to draw without any intention other than enjoying the act itself to remember I'm an artist, not just a content-sharer

Yesterday I wrote "NO BOX, NO LIMIT" on a sticky note and stuck it to my wall near my desk to remind myself I don't need one style, one genre, one theme, one artistic personality. we aren't in a box, we're artists! the whole point is that we're everything at once! definitely not machines to cater to trends and one genre
