Challenge accepted 🙋♀ I have been trying to figure out where my productivity levels are actually at when it comes to my artwork, and you are right that setting higher expectations that don't align with my own reality causes this sense of not being good enough, but they are expectations I set, for myself.... the motivation goes down really quickly. I like the way you've laid out the 1-5 scale and will be interested to see the video for a more in-depth breakdown of those levels. Thanks for the topic, I loved it :)

Really needed this right now to be honest. I’m very bad at not expecting too much of myself. I have the same health condition as you do (you mentioned it once in a video a while back), and boy does it suck. I’m having a hard time not feeling frustrated with my art and myself for my “bad days”. I’m going to try this, it’s not the first time I’ve heard this advice, but knowing successful people accomplished so much just with a daily modest goal is encouraging and a perspective I didn’t consider. I would love to hear more about how you manage to make art with your chronic health issues in a sustainable way.

For cryin' out loud, Kelsey, this is like artist therapy. I've been a professional artist for many years now, two decades full-time. And I KNOW all of this stuff from experience. But we all become our own worst enemy from time to time and need to be reminded of the things we already know. Thanks for another compelling video. You're providing a much needed service for new and old artists alike.

I set out to do 15 minutes of art a day this year! I even made myself a little tracker to keep an eye on if I’m hitting it. I don’t manage to do it literally every day, but it’s been nice and reassuring to see how much more I was already drawing than I thought I was ❤️ I’m working to get to the “this feels natural most days” part, but I’m already closer to that than I thought!

This is the exact thing I needed to watch right now, Kelsey 😭🩵 I've been working as a freelance illustrator since 2014 and doing content creation on and off since 2018. I've made a lot of progress, but the stagnation of social media and the art industry and the last couple years along with my ADHD has really thrown a wrench in my system and my mindset. This video really helped me take a deep breath and remember to take it one step at a time! Always appreciate your videos and am cheering you on for the painting you've been working on!

This video has already reshaped how I'm seeing my progress, and I just finished it. At the end of this video, my brain immediately compared this habit builder to how I like to read, when I did so consistently; one chapter per day, that's the bar, to sit on the porch and read one chapter

Heya - been watching for a long while, but think this is my first comment. I just want to thank ya much for this one. Listened as I powered through a piece I don’t feel is going well in a time when I’m learning how to live with my own chronic illness and inwardly thrashing myself for not being where I feel I should. Your encouragement is very much appreciated. Keep creating~! 💛

You are honestly the first person I've come across to also deeply understand the need for vision over rigid plan, because life is messy and unpredictable so we should embrace that rather than fight it. So thank you for sharing your opinion, it's made me feel much less alone Xx

Is the idea of 'art movements' an outdated concept? The inundation of artists and exposure online has created a monsoon of art where movements may be missed?
@hostrobot6559Күн бұрын
I love all of your videos but this one was so informative. Thank you for doing what you do. It makes 'art' so much more accessible to people who can't always put all of their focus into their art careers.

I continually inspiring, encouraging because you’re vulnerable and real. The foundation as a business, is a creativity endeavor. Video making is also meaningfully based in creativity. An art. An artist. All the time Kelsey. I have to say that I am so proud of you and your present personal growth journey. Blessings

Kelsey, I really enjoyed seeing how you employed technology to help you with compounding multiple references. Even simple things like employing a grid! I forget that that’s an option sometimes. I find I am often going through the stages you went through in this painting. Of being overly faithful to a reference or original drawing, when in truth, it doesn’t entirely work on its own. And not having a clear vision. Thank you for sharing your problem-solving. I think you will help me! And I need it 👏

I sent a drawing i did to someone to airbrush on my trunk of my car. It came out crappy, i then 😊sent it to someone else to fix, not what wanted they used stencil on top of obvious stencil..I thought i know how to draw & I'll do it, i bought everything i needed from compressor to many airbrushes, paints, stencil paper, it took me a long while to do it but i did it.. People who have seen it can't Believe it was my first airbrush art,..i believe you can do anything putting your heart & mind..
