Which do you like more Blender/Fabex CNC/CAM or FreeCad?

I've been asked this question many times, but I simply cannot give an answer. Because for some things FreeCAD is better, for others Blender+FabEX. I generally use FreeCAD for more geometrical stuff and blender for more flowish, natural, curved things

My work is primarily guitar related (2D perimeters for Bodies, necks, inlays, pockets), 1 3D carve for a fretboard radius. At least at this point. Perhaps FreeCAD is the main best bet for open source. I do my designs primarily in Rhino, but have dabbled in AutoCad, and would love to ultimately get onto as much open source as possible.

Thank you for another great tutorial! I have tried this path as wel but noticed that the bit immediately digs in the complete depth of the cut. How do you deal with that? Or did I do something wrong? Have a great evening, greetings from Holland.

Thank you! There is an option for stepdown in the 3d Surface, but you have to change the "Layer mode" (in the Operation set up tab) from "Single-pass" to "Multi-pass". After that, you can select the desired step down as usual, from the "Depths" tab

You have to enable experimental features. Try searching for it. If you cannot solve it, let me know and I'll make a quick video

@@opensourcecnc Got it - thanks. It is actually listed as: "Enable OCL Dependent Features" under the CAM->Advanced preferences. Thanks!
