Setting the spill timing on a Nuffield engine with inline injection pump

This video is showing how to set the spill timing on a Nuffield tractor. Here we used a BMC 2.6 engine which is a 3 cylinder engine. However, the principle will be the same for other engines, although the timing marks will be different. Therefore we always advise you to follow the workshop manuals for your engine.

10years ago I did a rebuild (BMC 2.6 Nuffield 342) learned a lot of this engine. I use our Nuffield weekly at our little farm. I love the sound of the BMC. Thanks for the video's. I have leaking rear seals of the rear axle like to know how to repair this.

I have got a4stroke Nuffield I have tried. To time it's not picking

my nuffield pump has lots of little markings on the coupling, what are they ?

What model and pump is it? They could be degrees to show you advancing and retarding the pump (if they are evenly spaced). If they are random spaced, then they could have been put on there by somebody to help them at the time they did something to the pump.

hi, where is the fill plug for oil on that pump? thx

The level plug is on the side of the pump that is facing me in the picture. It is below the diamond shape you can see on the side of the pump. The oil goes in the side which is open in the video. Hope this helps you but if not send me an email [e-mail] and I will send you a better picture.
