I use a thick hardened-steel washer under the nut, no pulley on shaft, locking-screw released, then turn the shaft like that to get the lift bang-on. Just lock the shaft once the lift is right, tap the spanner turning the nut backwards to release it away from the washer, then fit the pulley (with the holding-tool) at your leisure. It means you can get feel of the locking-pin just the way you want it, and it always seems to be bang-on when you over-check it afterwards with the DTI.

Very tight! I have no idea of the specific torque, but it is M14 thread so 52-65 NM depending on the nut grade

Would you set up a 300tdi at 1.6 when you delete the egr? Mine is super slow compared to my brother's 200tdi and i no longer have recirculation so i was wondering if I could do this

When set at 1.6 it gives the engine a bit more 'sparkle' but not a fire breathing monster - time to look somewhere else!

My disco is a ex egr 98 , thinking about it i should have set it to non or earlier 1.6 mm , what do you think mike, great vid

Hard to say - I set this to 1.4, and it went up my test hill in 3rd which is good for me!
