Setting the Vertical (Plumb) Cut on a Makita Mitre Saw

Adjusting the Vertical Cut on my Makita mitre saw.
It's been a long time coming, I have had this question many times about the vertical cut adjustment. However, I never needed to adjust the vertical cut on any of my Makita mitre saws until now.
I bought a job lot of tools, included with those was the smallest Makita mitre saw. The vertical cut was out of plumb by at least 2 degrees. It's an easy adjustment, but in the video I go over the stages to eliminate the problem.
The mitre saw bed was out of alignment also, but with a good clean up and some rust removal everything was back to almost new condition.
The Makita mitre saws maybe more expensive than other brands, but the attention to detail and accuracy is really exceptional.
I had thought I would repair this old Makita and sell it or give it away, however, once I had it up and running I realised just what a great piece of kit these little Makita mitre saws are. Lightweight, easy to set up in a small area and accurate, what more could one ask for.

Awesome job. What a great saw. I have a 12 inch 2x18v saw from makita that is having a few fence issues. I thought i'd just have a quick look at a video before adjusting to see what i'm looking at, and i'm glad i did. That digital angle gauge looks like the next tool i'm going to buy, what a mint thing. @@Crooks103 Cool as. I'm not a tradie so i'm not sure how long you could go on the batteries. It seems to have enough grunt getting through whatever i've thrown at it so far though, so the power isn't an issue for sure! The portability is mint though. I have it mounted on a hand trolley, so i simply cart it around and stand the trolley horizontally and use the saw anywhere i need to. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to cart around as i'm only just a hair over 60kg myself and it was pretty much at my maximum lifting weight without the trolley idea i came up with. I just realized i can't lift a fridge, but i can move one with a trolley... so why not put the saw on a trolley permanently?

I must be honest i really look forward to these types of vids from you, i have a dewalt dw774 which has a uneven bed i have taken it apart but couldnt see anything looking odd but i must look again.

Thanks Sandman. It's worth having a second look at your dewalt for sure. I got this saw as part of a "job lot" £60. Just a few hours cleaning and adjustment, this saw was good to go.

Good video, I am going to try that on my cheap and cheerful Parkside mitre saw - I would buy a better one but don't use enough to justify it!

Hey mate, I've got the same saw and just had the same issue after a 3 or so years of use. It's just a grime buildup. If you undo the mechanism where you change your saw blade normally, give it a good clean where you can get in to and spray with WD-40, she'll feel brand new again

I would just bring that thing to get recycled. That way you would save a day to live. And just buy new or used outta the junk paper.

This saw didn't need any replacement parts or anything. This is a beautiful saw that definitely doesn't need recycling for another half a century yet, if not more
