Thanks for the video, very helpful. However, how do I get the server.properties and whitelist.json files? You copied them from a previously setup server, but I am doing it from scratch. Need to set up OP access to change settings within Minecraft for my kids. Thanks!
@indridcold28724 жыл бұрын
the server.properties are already there after installation. The whitelist.json is easy to create yourself in Notepad: www.beastnode.com/portal/knowledgebase/6/Setting-Up-a-Whitelist-or-Make-Your-Server-Private.html / don't forget to load the whitelist.json in docker > container > volume. You need to add the file there so it gets loaded and also put 'white-list=true' in the server properties.

this video was a huge help. server works great! I want to get it setup to access external to my home network. Do you have any information on setting on Synology needed to do this and what you did for your port forwarding on your router?
@willcta14 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, apologies only just seen this, yes its pretty simple, just go into your router settings and find port forwarding, make sure you point the port that you chose when setting up the game to your synology, so for example if your synology internal IP was 192.168.1.2 then point 19132 or 20132 to that ip address

Have set it up following all instructions, but cannot even connect to it on the local network any ideas why this might be the case? I have tried default and custom ports to avoid any conflicts, I have restarted everything several times, made completely new containers. I can access the NAS and see it is running but Minecraft cannot locate the server at all. Even went to extra steps of adding whitelist and port forwarding and still nothing.
@GeertWognum4 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue, Can't really work out why this happens, Did you resolve it? I can see files being created on the NAS folder and can talk to Minecraft through terminal. so the server seems to be running.
@PhysNAstro4 жыл бұрын
@@GeertWognum No, I haven't had much luck. I tried some of the other images and they also have the same issue. Lots of googling and port testing later it seems to be an issue with docker generally not actually exposing ports to the network and only letting the host machine access the container... people suggest all sorts of network wizardry to achieve correct routing, some of which I tried and didn't see any good result, and some of which is beyond me and so I remain stuck...My current status is I have removed docker and am considering just setting up the server on another computer using the proper server ... I'd love to get it running on the NAS, but although I know a little bit about networking this just seems way too impossible with Docker

Port forwarding solved by following instructions on MarcTV's youtube: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJPcpoqhe5WFhLM. Set everything to 19132 and port forward 19132 to Synology's first IP address. Will provided more detailed instructions for how to setup operator mode.

Thanks for the video... Had a little challenge getting Docker going on my new Synology but after a restart I was able to launch the container. Unfortunately, I've had to select different ports as Docker Refuses to forget the ones I had originally tried and I deleted that image/container to restart the setup. No idea where the conflict is coming from but moving on... So now my container is running and I'm trying to connect from my iPad which is running Minecraft v.1.16.10. I have no idea if this version will connect to a Bedrock server or if I'm doing something else wrong. This is all on my home LAN so it should find the server but I just get an error "Unable to connect to world"? Any guidance? Thanks

ok - I read through some of the source material Will used. Specifically - marc.tv/anleitung-minecraft-bedrock-server-auf-einem-synology-nas/ I uploaded the server.properties & json.whitelist, then added both gamertags my kids use using the minecraft console from within the container. And viola, I was able to connect. Not sure why it shows up as a "Friend" vs Server but that's for another day.

Oh, and if the Microsoft privacy settings get in your way ...just make sure the birthdate is set to anything adult (just lie if it's actually a child), then you can access the xbox privacy settings and allow the stuff needed to add a server. You may have to delete all browser cookies to have success. I HATE Microsoft and ALL related. That includes Minecraft.
