Sold, this convinced me thank you. I was thinking of mounting the motor higher on my wall and using the remote. But I can now see the ease of just reaching up...vs searching for a lost remote. Good work to you!

Katie, you mentioned setting up a two stage at some point, however, I would encourage you to do it sooner rather than later. It was the single best choice I've made in my shop. Garbage can, circle jig to cut out a wood top for the can, then mount a Super Dust Deputy to the wood lid. I have the older version of the rockler dust right collector, will be upgrading it soon to the 1250cfm.

Hertoolbelt thank, Amy! I think you would really like these hoses. They’re not like other expandable hoses where they want to stay scrunched up. I hated wrestling with that type.

Katie, Thank you for the video! I have been waiting for some videos of the DR 1250 cfm model to begin to surface. I was hoping to see more initial thoughts on performance and features. If permissible by your agreement with Rockler, i would love to see an in-depth review in the near future covering suction performance, noise, remote strength(direct line of sight), the attachments, hoses, and accessories and whatever else you think is relevant as you use the system in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing what you decide to utilize for 2-stage (Thien baffle vs super dust deputy etc) and if you notice a loss of suction. Congrats on the new dust collection for your shop!

Hi Katie , loved your video on your Rockler 1250 CFM dust collection system. Did you ever think about replacing the plastic dust collection bag with a different container?
@addicted2diy
@addicted2diy 3 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you liked the video! I did actually plan to replace the bag with a larger one and maybe move the dust collector higher on the wall, but then changed my mind. I’m still using the original plastic bag that came with it and I really like that it is easy to dump and put back on. A larger bag would be much more difficult.

@@addicted2diy I bought the Dust Right 1250 also and I have a an old shop vac bottom from one of the shop vacs that I killed with dust and debris that I am trying to place under the 1 micron filter. I unscrewed the top part where the motor was and the filter fits perfectly. I just have to find a way to seal the thing. If there’s a way I could send a picture I could show it to you.

hi there! this is great!!! Im definitely going to look into getting one, is it the bag at the bottom that you change out? Does rockler have bags for you? how often do you have to change them out?
@addicted2diy
@addicted2diy 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we just dump the bag at the bottom when it is full. I’m actually still using the same bag that came with the machine and it’s been 3 years. Rockler does sell replacement bags though.

Your setup is ok for medium to fine dust. But what if some harder, larger or even nail entered to your system? Eventually it will hit your blower's fan blade without a pre-filter (cyclone) installed. Your canister filter is the biggest plus in your system. however, your collector bag is very small. Again, what if a sharper stock entered your system? and break your bag? Can you afford to see all dust blowing out from your bag? One more thing, such a long hose will greatly reduce the air flow and creates lots of static. Ground your flex tube can solve a bit, use hard metal tube to make the port closer to your machine, then use the flex hose to hook it up to your system should be a better idea.

Hi Katie, I just bought the 21’ 4” expandable dust right hose. However, when I went to attach it to the Dust Right hose handle like you have in the video, it will not fit. The inside dia is less than 4”. Did you have any trouble getting yours to fit on the handle? Thanks

So sorry for the late reply! That's so strange that the hose won't fit. I know it's a tight fit, but mine is fit on there and hasn't moved since I originally set it up.

Hi Katie, thank you so much for the content. I am trying to determine whether to go with Rocklers 750 cart setup or one such as the one you have chosen. I have a very small shop, completely a “hobbyist” and senior in years. You did a great job here and I suppose now that I need to do a quick tool inventory with dust port sizes and then reach out to Rockler for suggestions. I never see anyone using a system such as yours with a Makita track saw, or miter saw type tools which use a much smaller port. Is there a reason? I would appreciate a comment from you or your subscribers. I get such a kick out of those punch in the gut comments by some folks. I believe that along with any comment it should be necessary to show how many subscribers the commenters have. My guess is that it is considerably below 16,000 (congratulations). Also, in addition, when someone posts “terrible” it should be necessary to have to state why. I guess I am just feeling the brunt for you. You are doing very well and giving us all something to consider. Thank you so much.

Hi there! I would definitely reach out to Rockler and talk with them about what might be the best setup for your shop. I really love this one and am continuously amazed at the versatility of this dust collection setup. I am not one for having anything being fixed in place, but the dust ports on my tools and the quick connect hose really make this system so easy to use. As for attaching smaller ports to the dust collectors, it is entirely possible to do this, but based on my research it is not really recommended. These types of dust collectors are high volume and really do best when using larger ports. Reducing them down to 1 1/2” or less (like with a track saw) puts too much strain on the motor for long periods of time. What I would recommend for that is to use a shop vac. I have the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System (track saw) and use the Rockler dust hose kit along with my shop vac when using that saw. Hopefully all of this helps you make your decision!

Neat and simple setup. Two stage in the near future is a nice upgrade to already great setup. I was planning to pick up one to replace my old shop vac and this video helps a lot having seen the not so small scale and easy setup. What can you say about the noise level? Also I must add that I cringed a little when you drill vertically too close to the outlet. Usually the wires run up and down that location.
@addicted2diy
@addicted2diy 5 жыл бұрын
gets mike thank you! With regards to the noise level, it’s actually not bad. I’m sure it’s all relative, but I don’t feel like it’s enough to where I need to wear ear plugs just to vacuum the shop floor. I believe Rockler’s website said the decibels are about 78. I do hear you on drilling so close to the outlet. We did the wiring ourselves in the shop and we ran the wires through the studs which are 2x6, so I felt confident that I would not hit them. Definitely not something everyone should attempt if they don’t know the wire locations.

Looks like a good setup and I’ll be looking into some of the Dustright components for my existing system. One thing I notice, though, the Y seems to create a crimp in the top hose that is dedicated for your table saw. Can you turn the Y 90 degrees and avoid that?

Steve Berg I could have and I can’t remember off the top of my head why I went vertical with it, but I’m sure I had some sort of reason😂. It hasn’t affected the suction at all, though.

Hey Katie; it's me, the pest again. One more question: tell me about the dust extraction set up used on your router table (7:55 in the video). My table has been a sore spot in my shop. Depending on what kind of routing cut I am doing the dust does not even make it to the dust port. Is that a Rockler product also or is that a home made-set up? Thanks.
@addicted2diy
@addicted2diy 3 жыл бұрын
No worries at all! It is a Rockler product that I thankfully found on their site as I was planning out my router table build and it has been an amazing addition. The dual port on the back of the dust bucket makes it so efficient for collecting all of the dust when I’m using my router table. Even after heavy use, there’s never more than a pinch of dust in the dust bucket. www.rockler.com/dust-right-router-table-dust-bucket-kit-with-dual-port-and-fence-hose

Rich H hi Rich. I absolutely love this dust collector and have no complaints so far (it’s been a year). I am working right now on putting together a review video, since it has now been a year.
