they can be, though usually with the oegb I see them used more on the side in a colony style

@@MrHound556 usually yes, they are pretty much show breed. I've seen crates full of nothing but oegb males at auction before and had little trouble keeping them together when I raised them

@@ChickenWired Thank you!, I personally keep my Mottled Houdans together and theirs little to no fighting which I'm thankful of and I was curious Abt OEGBs because I've heard their a little more aggressive

i worry about the heat and cold in my area for the barrels, would they work ok in an area with highs of maybe 100f during summer and 30f during winter?!? great series of videos btw.

With heat there's two things you can do, one is provide shade, the other is to drill a series of holes in the top of the barrel (on the sides up towards the top) to allow heat to escape. With the cold you got to keep the wind off them and keep the barrel filled with straw. For added insulation if you get a lot of snow you can pile the snow up on the barrel and it helps to keep it warmer.

You'll be fine with them temperatures I've had roosters for 3540 years and it gets over 100° and very humid here in the summer and right now it's about at 9° so the roosters will be fine

Yes, absolutely. Generally Gamefowl breeders prefer these barrels due to them being more cost effective.
