I think the input EQ is so if you have two Subs one one each, you could set it so every second frequency is set to the other Sub, that would surely sound the best and run them the coolest

Thanks for the detail explanation. I may miss how you decide the gain of the individual drivers. Like in a passive crossover, there are usually resistors to adjust sound of the tweeter and/or mid path. Do you adjust the gains by listening and adjust to your liking?

Hey Mikey. I use this peice for crossover and eq. Just for the low end and subs. The top end is striaght from preamp to power amp. Passive crossovers in the cabinet do there thing for the mid and tweeter. Curious, what EQ do you use for your setup? I thought i saw it before. Its all analog i think? Do you sell them?

Looks like a good product but it all the management is done in 24/96 digital domain. Seems it would defeat any decoding you have done up stream at higher rates. Also if placed between PreAmp and Amp with would also impact any advantages of fully analog path for vinyl.

Why not use pa speaker then self speaker
@sudd36603 жыл бұрын
i just got into active crossover myself after getting a minidsp SHD studio. but i can't let myself use anything after a dac, but most preamps are done in the analog domain. i have only digital source so it is easier for me, source to dsp and preamp(my minidsp) and digital xlr to dac's into power amps. i can not think of any other way to do it right but something feels off with the preamp, there is no other place to put a preamp(volume knob) i think. to get best sound quality it has to be as simple as possible with no unnecessary conversions or delay, and a volume control which do not degrade or compress sound. This is as far as i got so far, there is probably some high end product i do not know about for better solutions and sound.
@wilbertiii3 жыл бұрын
I also use Minidsp 4 x 10..... my setup is computer w/JRiver output via toslink optical( glass ) to Minidsp output via XLR to amps....nothing else conversion is at the Minidsp

This is only a piece I use when designing speakers to chose crossover points and slopes, then Ive got a 4 way discreet differential filter stage, What you speak of I want to try and I will using a DEQX it will mean I need 3 stereo DAC machines, just so happens I have them ...
@repsych3 жыл бұрын
@@OCDHIFiGuy Thanks, the DEQX is lovely. I run my PDC 2.6 into a Sony 7100ES. It's pretty good. I contacted DEQX to see if they still sold conversion kits that allow three S/PDIF outputs because the S-Master Pro amplifiers are fully digital and I have three. No reply sadly, it's likely too old.

It looks so complicated to use! 😲 Can I use this so as to find out optimal crossover points (by ear), measure them, and use them as "templates" to, by trial and error, build a passive crossover? How effective is this method? Thanks!
@peronnikbeijer2133 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the demo, I wonder If novice users can follow. Some diagrams would be very helpful I think. How did you choose the x-over points and why do you use the mid as a filler driver?
@OCDHIFiGuy3 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful!, if you use the manual with this video novices should be fine . This is a temporary test piece to chose my crossover points when designing speakers, then i go to an analog crossover, you chose them by using common sense and trial and error the mid thing was a fix. it used to be a 2 way speaker but the tweeter did not go high enough and I dont like to EQ as it can sound contrived, so I added a ribbon tweeter and made it a 3 way and it just so happened that is sounded best only using the mid for about 1000Hz of freq

Thanks for the video. My only problem is when you change the frequency of the "high" under the LOW settings page, it changes automatically under the page of HIGH settings page. eg. You set the "high" frequency to L-R24 & 1.82 Khz under the LOW settings page, when you change the settings under the HIGH settings page L-R24 2.62 Khz, it changes the LOW page settings (from L-R24 & 1.82 back to L-R24 2.62 Khz)
