Thanks for the tips. We bought one of these along with a Minn Kota Max 55lb trolling motor to start using on our camping trips this summer to do some cruising and exploring. I'm planning to use some PVC pipe and a tarp to make an awning using the rod holders as mounts for the top......really excited to get it going.

Bama3Dr you're going to love it. Take a look at our other vids, they show that these boosts are much more rugged than they look. We use a 40 lb thrust, I would definitely recommend a group 31 marine battery for your motor.
@bama3dr6084 жыл бұрын
The PNW I definitely will check out your other videos. I’ve been thinking about what batteries to go with and I think I’ve settled on the 35ah sealed lead acid batteries that Harbor Freight sells. I’m planning to connect 3 of them in parallel to start and then add a 4th if needed. I like those because they’re light and will be easier to manage. We’ll probably just use the boat for 1 or 2 hour trips so the 3 batteries may be plenty, especially if we’re not running wide open all the time. We got a good deal on the Max motor and it’s supposed to be much more efficient at partial throttle than a standard trolling motor.

It’s not dangerous to encapsulate the battery in that ice chest (black box with yellow top)? There is no build up of sulfur which can cause explosion if sparked? I’m asking because I have the intex mariner 3 and I have been placing the battery (sealed) at the back of the boat and it is really cutting down on my space. I would like to put the battery in some sort of housing to avoid contact with water and have it off to the side so that we have more room. I’m not sure how to set it up and need some suggestions.

This boat is awesome for the lakes. I even took this boat into the ocean with my minn kota motor. It was a struggle to get back to shore when big boats and ferries created wakes which made it extremely difficult to get back. If i had a stronger motor it would of been alot easier

Place this motor on m Bris 12.5 ft and worked great in saltwater. You have to get it to the highest speed 5 to get it moving when the tide is up. But on calmer waters 3-4 works good for some speed. Easy to use.

That selector switch is great. But you mentioned a "Minn Kota plug" around $30 at 6:39 in the video. I'm looking for that plug (male) and its receptor (female) on the box. I did the maiden voyage this weekend with the minn kota 40 lb of thrust as well all went fine, I had to deflate chamber 2 while inflating number 3 as while inflating chamber 3 it stretched chamber 2 or was it because of air getting warmer as the boat was sitting under the sun while I was inflating?
@ThePNW2 жыл бұрын
@@jetrg12 thank you! Did you have fun? It could be both... Inflating #3 puts pressure on #2 so you may have to let some air out. But yes, air temp plays a big part in the chamber pressure.

Question for you, I have this setup except for a Newport Vessels motor. Boat is inflated to 10cm and I’m scared to use full throttle on the motor as the transom area starts to get creases and I’m worried about tearing the boat then losing everything. My motor had 5 speeds and on speed 3 it goes 2mph and the boat doesn’t crease. But on speed 4 or 5 (5 gets 4mph) the pushing of the motor starts creasing and folding the transom area. Curious if you think this is normal. Thanks
@ThePNW4 жыл бұрын
Ken Dungey yes, just put a little more pressure in the third chamber. The motor is still going to tuck, so adjust shaft angle to counter it. Remember, these aren’t pool toys- they can handle the load. Please, subscribe for more.
@jasper78214 жыл бұрын
The PNW thank you for the reply. Wouldn’t adjusting the shaft angle higher or lower still make it push forward and tuck in the same amount when full throttle? And over inflate the 3rd chamber to compensate for the tucking? And thanks for that verbiage, I couldn’t think of a good word to explain it 👍
@ThePNW4 жыл бұрын
Ken Dungey I know- it goes against what I said in this vid... but putting a little more air pressure in the third chamber will help keep the motor in place rather than “sagging” at full speed. But just a few pumps, not to a point where it’s stiff! And adjusting the angle will help keep equal pressure on the motor mount so you’ll get more out of your motor at full speed. When the motor tucks it’s yanking on the top two motor mount bolts.

Do mounts usually come with motor's? I have a little inflatable and really want a motor to get around for some extra fun, also what's the usual range?
@ThePNW3 жыл бұрын
No.... You'd have to find a mount compatible with your raft. Does yours have a place for a motor mount?

Dude I'm also in Oregon and was told that it needs to be registered. Did it change?
@ThePNW4 жыл бұрын
I haven't looked in awhile but I've never had a problem with that. I know in Washington they do not have to be registered...
@RyanDeremo3 жыл бұрын
I know that in Michigan you don’t need to register it as long as it’s under 20’ and doesn’t have a permanently fixed motor. That was a huge relief because I don’t want to spend the money on registering it!

I just bought this boat and I noticed something that isn't mentioned in the owners manual. Can someone please help me with this if you know? The manual states you must inflate the boat in the correct sequence (chambers one thru three) and chambers two and three must match up to the 10 cm mark for proper inflation. However, I notice when we pump up chamber two to 10 cm then pump chamber three to 10 cm it makes chamber two go past the 10 cm mark. Does anyone know if it was intended to do that to make the chamber two more solid or are you supposed to decrease the pressure in chamber two to match 10 cm? Because I have been making sure the chambers match 10 cm but what ends up happening is pumping up then deflating then pumping up and deflating to get both at the correct pressure which is super annoying and a waste of energy.
@ThePNW4 жыл бұрын
Justin Ricolcol yup! Inflating number three puts pressure on number 2 leaving it overinflated. You'll get the hang of it. I fill number 2 to 10 cm then number 3. Then if #2 has too much pressure after that I'll let some air out. I didn't get too into in this vid but going over 10cm is ok, especially if you're going to use higher speeds on your motor. But, as the air temperature gets hotter throughout the day keep an eye on the air pressure

Nice cheap boat! These boats are famous with lack of durability but I managed to put 25hp 110lbs outboard on it with custom motormount and the boat held the weight of engine at back part like badass. I think excursion 5 is best budget boat to buy.

Hey! I have been watching couple of your videos! Very informative and good explanation! I have a question for you, i’ve been reading in the comments that you change to alligator clamps instead of the plug in due to overheating. That happen after how much use? I live in berlin and for using the boat i can only around 4-5 months in the year, then is really cold. You think for that time would be good the plug in? And when using the battery you need to keep it in the dark right? Otherwise it damage?. I am new in all of this stuff! Thanks for your help!
@ThePNW3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sebastion.. the plug does work well, after a year or started to get hot though that's why I switched to alligator close. No... The battery does not need to be in the dark but you should put it in a box so it doesn't get wet...
