Thanks so much for this! I got it working with Nuendo and it's much better than doing it with AsioLinkPro. There's still some dropping of id's etc. but at least you can reconnect things much more quickly with the graph. I was getting horrendous noises when I made any changes in the Renderer due to Jack suddenly routing the Nuendo outputs straight into the audio outs. I fixed it by changing the Self-Connect Mode to "Ignore self connect requests to external ports only". Now everything is running great. I tested making a QC mp4 file from the Renderer, and that also works fine. Again...Thanks a million!

Cool, glad it helped. The self connection stuff does need a bit of trial and error to get stable unfortunately. Every DAW is slightly different in how it sees Jack ASIO.

Hi Sam, This was a really nice video. Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. I am currently taking the Dolby Atmos 205 & 210 Certification courses, and this was very useful for me since I'm on Windows. I'm having trouble with the connection of the LTC signal. In the video, you show that it's connected, but the Transport section of the Dolby Atmos Renderer and ProTools is not synced. I don't understand why, but the Dolby Atmos LTC Generator (which is installed automatically with the Dolby Atmos Renderer) appears, but it gives me an error when I select the plugin. It says that this plugin is not in the 'Plugin Folder'. So, I have a few questions: Are you able to use the Dolby Atmos Music Panner and the LTC Generator from Dolby in Windows? And most importantly, what do you think is causing the LTC issue between the Dolby Atmos Renderer and ProTools? I've already set up the outputs section correctly, and it gives me a signal in another random channel that I routed to test. However, when I put an LTC .wav file (because, as I mentioned, I can't open the Dolby LTC Generator), it doesn't sync the Time Code section between Dolby and ProTools. I'm using version 5.0.3 of Dolby Atmos, and to rule out some options I've already checked, the 'External Sync source' is configured as 'LTC over audio', and I've tried using channels 128 and 129 as the 'LTC Input Channel'. If you can explain in detail how we can route this LTC Timecode between the software, I would be very grateful because it's my last step to start working with the external renderer. (Or if I can support you in some way to help me fix this problem, please contact me via email at vicmolgram@gmail.com.) Thank you so much again for your help, your channel is great!

There's a few factors to consider with the LTC. You need the LTC signal from ProTools to output on the channel you've set LTC to use in Dolby Atmos Renderer > Settings > External Sync Source. This is by default set to accept LTC on channel 129 input to DAR but can be edited. The LTC needs to match frame and sample rate too. You can either generate this LTC yourself from an LTC audio file (search google for El-Tee-See Two for a good LTC generator). You can also use an LTC plugin to generate it. TXL20 make some nice LTC Timecode plugins for not too much money. Apart from that that I can't see anything else that would need to be looked at. Unfortunately Dolby don't provide their LTC plugin for Windows VST or AAX. One VERY IMPORTANT point is ProTools only supports 64 Channels of I/O unless you have the Ultimate licence, so LTC will need to be on Channel 64 maximum otherwise it will never sync! Confusingly ProTools shows more than 64 channels of I/O in its routing even though it blocks you using them on lower licences.

So no time code or ltc generator is required ? I’m still trying to make it work using asiolink pro but I keep getting strange loud noises like digital feedback

Yes, you would typically send your LTC on channel 129. Jack should be an improvement over asiolink pro

So does jack audio come with a time code ltc? If not where did you get yours?
@SamHocking
@SamHocking 5 ай бұрын
@@angelmartinez-rh3iz You can use an LTC timecode plugin or generate LTC wav file and then use that on channel 129. Jack does include timecode when the application supports Jack natively (not ASIO ) but its not LTC its sample rate timecode iirc.

@@angelmartinez-rh3iz Searxh Google for 'TXL Timecode Plugin' To generate a free .wav timecode file to use instead, search for 'LTC Two'
