🤑I know this video was for last year, but I find it helpful to see how other people structure their budgets and organize their cash flow. Thank you for sharing your budget categories!

Do you use your old numbers to show what you spent for things like your Christmas party? I collapsed my accounts down too. It was too much to maintain. I now color code Categories with a colored dot with a corresponding account - ex. These purple dot category balances should equal this purple dot checking account (I have 2 checking accts).

I just get lazy and guess instead of looking back, but YNAB reports are great! I love how you described the color coding. That makes sense.

I've found that the monthly savings builder is better for things like entertainment. So that way if you don't use it builds up

Good idea! I didn’t think about building that category up. I’m making the adjustment now!

5:34 I call my miscellaneous “Stuff I Forgot to Budget For” 😂

I had that category a few years back. I’m not sure why I changed it to miscellaneous 😂

Me too. 😬 I hate using it and will WAM from all over before I use it. I guess I want it to be used for things I truly forgot or didn’t allocate. Overspending has to be WAMmed to I don’t just use it as an “I impulsed spent my money.”

I’m a paper budgeted but this looks awesome. Is it worth the money?

I’m a Budget Mom user (which is on paper) myself which I switched to after a brief stint with YNAB and her videos always make me want to switch back. Even though paper budgeting has proven to work really well for me. I’ve also considered trying to go back to Google Sheets but again, right now TBM works for me. When our finances become more complicated (investments) I will probably create a spreadsheet to track it. For now I’m just going to enjoy all of her videos ❤

I love The Budget Mom! Her journey is amazing, but I know I would never update a paper budget. 😂 That’s why I love budgeting and watching other people budget. It’s so personal and people get so creative with their methods.

I was a spreadsheet by paycheck budgeter (I still use this spreadsheet to forecast all future paychecks for the year). I tried YNAB again in 2022. I love it! I’ve tried using it periodically over the decade but my multiple accounts confused the heck outta me while in YNAB. I’ve collapsed down some accounts that I no longer need because YNAB maintains my category balances. It’s nice knowing what I have at all times. Also, it’s digital and I can see all my history.
