As a veteran teacher, my suggestion is to make yourself a small pharmacy with pain killers, antacids, extra deodorant, feminine hygiene products and an emergency change of clothes. It is better to be ready than sorry. Make sure that you put your things somewhere that the students can't access and enjoy your new career.

I understand the overwhelming thing and shutting down. I can tell when you are talking about it you were feeling it because you were playing with your hair non stop and fidgety. Then when you stopped talking about it you relaxed. When I get like that I find it helps if you just step back take a break, do something else (play on your phone, insta, whatever) for a little bit and then come back to it. It also works with kids who get overwhelmed easily or have anxiety. So hope that helps, you got this stay safe ❤

You are doing a fantastic job already, I can't wait to see your classroom when you finish! One crazy idea for your word wall is I actually put mine on my ceiling. The thinking when kids get to a word they don't know they look up anyway (LOL) so why not get the word from the ceiling tiles. I used straight pins into the foam tiles and it worked awesome. A little tricky to add my new words but my kids loved it and it was plenty of space to spread out.

Going into my second year! I felt the same way last summer when my family would come in! I found a good tip though that worked for me was to have a todo list for them and one for me before they came into my room, that way they could just look there and I could do my thing. The help is awesome to have though but I know that feeling lol

I am marathoning your set up and I am SO sad/jealous that you are getting ready for in person school. We started 8 days ago but will be officially “remote teaching” starting Monday 8/10. The excitement of the beginning of the year just isn’t the same when those beautiful little faces aren’t sitting in front of you in person. My classroom is all ready for them.....hopefully we get to go back sometime this year. Enjoy those kiddos, the biggest thing this year will be for them to have some normalcy after the craziness of the spring time. I know I am desperate for any hint of normal.

It's normal to feel overwhelmed, you are not alone! I am moving schools, states, and grades this year. I'm worried about my license getting transferred, learning new curriculum, how my school will handle distance learning if needed, everything that will be different from my old school. It's a lot to think about. The good news is that all of your co-workers and family members are there to support you when you need it.

I wouldn’t worry about your job too much sugar. You’re an educator and we are already so short on teachers around the states! This year is definitely going to be a challenge, for all of us. I am going into my third year teaching this year and moving from second grade to fourth grade and just found out we’re starting back online for the first month and may wind up doing completely online. It’s scary but just know everyone is so out of sorts right there with you!💕 You’ll make it and you will do great! You have the passion and the love for children, the rest will fall into place!

Not sure how contracts work in your district, but something similar happened to me last year. I was given a position in a school but the numbers were so low that they no longer needed me but because I had already signed my contract they had to offer me a position in a school were the numbers were very high. I ended up moving to an amazing school with a team that I love! All of this to say, I am sure you’ll find your home, try not to stress too much about it.

Cute job with your classroom. I know that you said you wanted to keep home and school separate but, I have been teaching for almost 20 years and there is always something you are GOING to WANT to do at home. I would suggest that you have an extra laminator and laminating sheets and a small cutter at home. You could put those on your wish list. Best thing I ever did.

Suggestion: I spray anything laminated with a clear matte spray paint so that it doesn’t get that annoying glare and you can see it all from a distance still! Like your map is kind of hard to see with the glare since it’s muted colors
