Love watching you go through this. Switching to ITBs and EFI on my '83 was such a fun experience. Lots of people poo-poo the tuning process, but it really is what you make of it and you learn so much about what these motors like in the process. I can absolutely fire it up and drive cross country without fuss, but the tinkering is part of the fun (for me) and I find myself pulling out the laptop and messing around with it all the time, even now, 5+ years later. Enjoy!

I love this comment and I can tell we would be instant friends, ha ha. My opinion is most people hate ITB's for the wrong reasons. What they really hate is not being able to get in touch with a tuner that knows how to fix them. That is why I'm learning the whole process for myself like you have already done. Awesome!

A Great Video!! Question: I see only one manifold that the 6 MAP lines terminate to from the ITB's. Where are the 6 tubes that supply air for the Idle air speed control motor?
@GarageTimeAutoRestoАй бұрын
Thx. Six lines go into a manifold block and then one larger line goes to the IACV. I'm not running a brake booster on this car, so there's only one merged vac line to the MAP sensor.
@karrera81Ай бұрын
@@GarageTimeAutoResto I don't think I understand this. Do the same 6 lines that provide the vacuum value to the MAP sensor also carry positive air pressure to the throttle bodies for idle control? I have an Electromotive EFI with ITB's in my '81 SC 3.0 L. I am considering adding an idle air control. I thought I would need a separate independent plenum of 6 lines from the idle air control to a different port in each throttle body (than the MAP ports). I also don't understand how the brake booster vacuum affects this. I have the booster.
@GarageTimeAutoRestoАй бұрын
Probably easier to talk about this through phone calls or email. The idle control valve doesn't have any positive pressure. It's just controls the severity of a controlled vacuum leak. The MAP sensor is T'd off between the IACV and distribution block. tperazzo356@gmail.com

Hey man, love following the build! Can you tell me where you sourced the hard fuel line, and what radium fittings you used for the fuel rail?
@GarageTimeAutoResto4 ай бұрын
The hard lines are custom made by me. Tube straightener, tube bender and flaring tools, etc. The radium is their an6 banjo

@GarageTimeAutoResto6 ай бұрын
I don't think PMO has a 4 cylinder option yet. It would be awesome.

Nice work! Make sure the MAP isn’t pulsating to much, I had to add some extra tubing to smooth it out a bit.

The signal doesn't look too bad at idle. Does your ECU have a digital filter?
@knockdown3217 ай бұрын
@@GarageTimeAutoResto I don’t believe the AEM Infinity 506 did have digital filtering, my install was about 5 years ago.

since you seem to engineer many parts and fixes I thought you could find a way to cut the pmo up and weld together to do a 4 cylinder version. At least i was hoping you cold.
@GarageTimeAutoResto6 ай бұрын
Ha ha, maybe. I think there's another company that offers fuel injection for VW's. I can't remember the name at the moment, but it's been done before.
@WiksGarage6 ай бұрын
How is it that PMO hasn't engineered the manifolds to have the injector spray cutouts? hmmm
@GarageTimeAutoResto6 ай бұрын
It's probably because it's the same manifold as their carbs. I hope they update their EFI offering. Same with the linkage brackets. The vacuum ports run right into them.

@@GarageTimeAutoResto Mostly the linkage. You were explaining in detail how you lined up the ball ends and it was sorta hard to see the details. I understand that adds a ton of complexity to shooting a video like this , but with technical stuff tight detail shots really help the viewer understand fully what you are talking about. I’m a videographer by trade(NBC) and just always think to myself, WIDE. MEDIUM. TIGHT when shooting. Again, I understand the exponential amount of work all the extra angles and editing this requires, so thank you for all the effort.
