Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I’ve been thinking about an atc for awhile and this is helping to push me towards it.

G43 is for doing tool length compensation. Machine coordinates is G53. “G43 H2” means load the tool length for tool 2, basically so Z0 in your work coordinate is whatever you zeroed to for the current tool. To purely change tools, you don’t need that portion, but you wouldn’t want to then go start cutting. Excellent video on the process. 👍

Thank you! Haven't had the time to implement tool changing on my machine yet using Jason's document. This helps me to really understand more about what I need to do. I'm great at a lot of the cnc stuff, but writing or understanding code is not my thing.

Love it, yeah g43 is the tool height comp. In a program you change tools t2 m6, then on the move down to the part you g43 h2 z?? to pick up the length comp.

Great video and thanks for the info! This really helped out a lot but definitely awaiting your pressure monitor thingimebobby install video. I searched high and low and found videos of setting it up in mach4 but not where to actually connect it to (io board)?

Very informative and clear. I have a question though, I noticed when you measured the master tool dowel and pressed to set the height, you didn't zero the Z axis before you set the height of it? Then between putting the master tool back in the rack and grabbing the next tool, I see that the Z axis is zero but didn't see when you did that? Thanks
@fritzbabler64593 ай бұрын
The Mach4 videos from Mach showed them zeroing the Z axis before setting the master tool height. Wondering why they do it and you don't?
@WMBayouLures3 ай бұрын
Sorry I probably just assumed a zero'ing of all axis before you start. You are correct,0 it all out before you start.

Hi, looking at your ATC tool stations I don't see any spring element etc that would compensate the partial tool push out. I'm in the process of setting up my S30C ATC and see quite a lot of flex happening in the tool fork the moment the drawbar ejects the tool. I'm a bit worried that this force might cause damage in the long run... I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, and how you dealt with the ZBump. Thanks for the great video, very helpful! Cheers, Michael.
@WMBayouLures Жыл бұрын
I have not noticed any Z bump issues, the forks are matted to slots on the tool holder so any movement that is happening is the tool going into the "proper" position. It can't really move in Z as long as it is properly seated in the fork, and if it is not properly seated then it is almost certainly on the floor somewhere 😆
@portlandscott11 ай бұрын
I'm working through this right now with my S30C. There is a variable assigned in the script that let's you specify the ZBump compensation. Looks like it is only implemented with the GCode that picks up the tool but not when replacing in the rack. Did you have any luck solving this?

Hey man I'm really close to getting the s30c auto changing system. What can you say about the power of the spindle itself. How fast can you typically run it through materials line MDF or any other materials you have tested?
