I did the same thing a couple of months ago, Pathan board, them moved my stock, but the mid-bee didn't align properly... and I was not shooting better, so I align the mid-bee back strait and I did better, but still under 20 on 25... so later somebody told me that my body was tilted to the right and that I should straiten un my body and at the same time my head I guess !!! Eurika ! Now getting over 20 scores ! Keep your head strait in shooting & in life, Always Great advice Roger !

Great video, Roger. It’s so true. I know one of my biggest issues is not doing this due to inconsistent gun mount which I need to work on. Glad you got it all figured. Happy shooting and be well!

Hi Roger. I want to share with you something that I found regarding how I shoot. Initially I was a skeet shooter, now I shoot sporting clays. In any discipline where you need fast judgment and reaction, and trap is one of them, is extremely important to be well nourished that day and the day before. My best results were on these days and my worst on days when I fasted or I had poor meals. This is a too often forgotten aspect but please people pay attention to it. Happy shooting.

Thx that u share to help. I shoot compak and often pattern the gun by sholdering and shooting naturaly, fast, relaxed and straight head. Important as well to pattern the second follow shot (adjusted by the back end of the stock).

Hi Roger, nice video and good advice. My 16yr old son started shooting last November with a borrowed club gun and was coming along pretty good. Last week he bought his own gun and like you said, couldn't hit a thing.... From the pattern board we set his gun up just as you did, that didn't work so like you we've set it back to pretty much as it came out of the box..... We'll see how he does this weekend. Head on stock, eyes level ! 👍

I enjoy your video's and have learned a bit while doing so. Shooting trap for 5 year's and still being a "D" grade shooter is a bit dishearten but still fun

Hi Roger , if you own a gun that fits you perfectly and you shoot very well with , then record the stock dimensions , Length of Pull, Cast, Drop and Pitch etc . and keep them in a safe place for future reference . i

Thank you for all the hard work. You go beyond to present valuable information. Many years, and I could not understand why I was missing the birds as I went hunting with a group of friends. It turned out that I am left eye dominate. At age 65, I am seriously attempting to become left- handed shooter. In addition I am thinking of purchasing a new Beretta 400, gas operated left handed. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thank you for all the great presentations. God bless.

Alexander...i am also left eye dominant...but it does not matter... once you have set up your gun to shoot where you look then cross eye dominance does not matter because we only look at what we want to shoot and not at the gun...happy shooting...hope this helps....stay well !!!

Hi Roger Good video, what I think you could consider is "Mount the gun to the cheek" not drop the cheek onto the stock. That way your head maintains level. Just a thought.
@ronlochocki605
@ronlochocki605 3 жыл бұрын
I agree Mark. And I adjusted the cheek piece of the comb so my right eye figure 8s the mid bead. Left eye is open but not dominant. The pattern board becomes an exercise in seeing how the pattern "prints." Which is 60/40 as Browning intended.
@markwalshaw8322
@markwalshaw8322 3 жыл бұрын
Another way to look at this. If you have a tight consistent mount to the shoulder, then altering the comb left or right will have a reduced effect as the movement is so small your head will compensate to correct this rather than moving the stock to the left or right which is really what you need to alter the shot path.

ents Add a public comment... Will Bert Roger, I'm quite an enthusiastic viewer of your channel, your advice is good and based on sound foundations but, if you look at your own video at the point when you mount the gun, your eyes aren't horizontal and I know the point is to make them as horizontal as possible so there's no problem there. To get your eyes to where they are in the video you are canting the barrels. This is an observation only. Other than that great video, thank you.

Will Bert...you are very right...one thing i never do is edit my videos...what you see is what you get...it was a bit harder to do sitting down...when i am standing it is better ...but still not 100%...I am working on it...thank you for watching ...much appreciated !!!

Famous Australian Olympian Russell Mark says... mount the gun Then put your head on the stock... not put your head on the stock then mount the gun makes a huge difference... makes a lot of sense. From what I've seen over the years most DTL shooters put the gun to the cheek 1st then to the shoulder This is incorrect it should be going to the shoulder 1st then head on the stock.
@rogerpace9322
@rogerpace9322 3 жыл бұрын
Tim...as long as it is consistent then that is fine...who is going to argue with Russell Marks...but generally i think the most common mount is to the cheek first......good on you!!!
