Actually guys, if you have your PC right next to your console like I do you can get PC sound AND your console sound (Works with any console with an optical port). All you have to do is plug your USB into your PC, and plug your optical cable into your console and bam. That's it, you got sound out of both your PC and your console so you can skype, while still hear your game. Like this comment so everyone knows!

+Rusty Penny It's a good tip! Also worth noting that there is a skype app inside xbox so if you dont have the mixamp, you can still use skype... but for music, this is the best (and only as far as i know) solution! :)

@@KyubeyazI bought mine about 2 months ago, I've had no problems with any settings except switching what account is using the mic, but in that case, you can turn off and on the headset, and the notification "headset assigned" pops up, and you just hold the Xbox home button and you can change it. I can't think of any other settings wrong with the mic

I'm having trouble connecting the optical cable to my xbox one X. I can hear the optical cable click into the mixamp, but when I try to plug it into the back of my xbox one x in the s/pdif port I don't hear no click? Not sure if I'm doing it right. I'm pressing pretty hard.

If you didn't get the xbox mixamp (white one) for the xbox then you won't have chat because only the xbox one comes with a specific chip to allow you to do this.

Is there a way to use this for xbox and PC simultaneously? I have the 2010 version mixamp and I plug the toslink cable into the xbox for that audio but I plug the usb into the computer for the PC audio. The front of the mixamp has the 2.5 mm input for an xbox microphone which connects directly to the controller. Is there a way to replicate this on the current version of the mixamp? The convenience of having both connections has spoiled me as I have listened to this video while playing xbox at the same time... :) help!

+T0xiC Husky This MixAmp will not work on the Xbox 360 because it doesn't have a chat cable port for it because the voice goes through USB to the Xbox One only. I have A40 2013s and I've heard you can use them with the MixAmp TR on Xbox One - any version of A40s will work with the MixAmp.

I just got the Astro a40s TR and Mixamp Pro TR for the Xbox one. Everything comes out fine except for my voice in party chat. My team says i sound really muffled like I have my hand over the mic. Now when I take the headset out of the mixamp pro tr and plug it into my controller directly they hear me just fine. - I have the new windows 10 preview update - I have the latest update for my Xbox One - I have the latest update for my controller - I have all the correct audio setting on my Xbox (recommend by astro) Any idea's on how to fix this?

+Right Place Gaming In the Command Center software (on a computer) set the noise gate to 'Streaming' and it pretty much turns off the noise gate, making the microphone sound much better.

I have the PC/Mac/PS3/PS4 version of the astro a40 + mixamp pro, and I am trying to use it for my Xbox One. I can get game sound, but the console does not even recognize my microphone. I have updated the controller, and I used astro command center to update the mixamp. Does any one have any suggestions? This video says the mixamp should be assigned to my controller, but I don't know how to verify if it is or isn't. Thanks for the help.

Can someone help me out? I've been gaming for quite some time. I am in search of a good headset for Xbox one tomorrow or thursday for the release of BO3.I had tritton AX720 pros for the 360 and loved them. I'm looking to get either the Astro A40s with the Mix amp pro or the bundle with the M80 controller puck. I hear the 7.1 isn't that great on these with the Mix Amp. Are people wrong or just stupid? I want to chat so I would need the adapter if I got the Mix amp bundle which isn't an issue. I like the convenience of the puck but I hate that it will be stereo sound and not the full dolby that the headset is capable off. Is there a huge difference between the two? Is the mix amp bundle worth it for the 7.1 and then grab a chat adapter or just go with the M80 and deal with stereo sound instead. Both are the same price of $199 but the mix amp will cost me another $30 for the chat adapter. Anyone want to chime in? Is the stereo sound good enough to not worry or should I just go with the mix amp to be safe? Also are both of these compatible with a phone or laptop for music like through a 3.5mm.

You don't NEED the Mixamp, but the headset by itself is useless. The Mixamp is what gives you the surround sound. If you want just a headet, get a Sennheiser Game One with a y-adapter and plug it into the controller.

Its the exact same setup as the PS4 so in theory you should be able to use the PS4 headset with the Xbox One. Is this true or am I missing something?

+ddrhodes33 Xbox doesn't support usb audio ...Astro did some sort of engineering to get rid of the need for the mic port and chat adapter PS4 and ps3 supports usb audio ..that's why ps never needed a chat cable
