why would i need to update the mixamp firmware? im still using the 2012 mixamp and it works flawlessly with the PS4 and other consoles from the theory the Xbox One works just like the Xbox360 did with the mixamp, so what is the firmware update for? (i heard the microsoft stereo headset adapter also outputs gamesound, maybe thats why?)

Found this for the guys who have the Astro 2010 Mixamp, follow this steps they helped me out. Configuring the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter By default, the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter will output both game audio and voice audio which will render the mixer on the MixAmp unusable. Follow the below steps to set the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter to only output voice audio which will correct this. 1) Set the mixer on the MixAmp to full voice audio. 2) On the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, hold down the chat audio button until you can no longer hear game audio and can only hear voice audio. 3) On the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, hold down the plus button until the voice audio no longer increases. That's all that's to it! You will now be able to use the microphone from your A40 or A30 Headset on your Xbox One and the mixer will work as intended allowing you to mix between game audio and voice audio with ease. Should you have any further questions regarding the A40 or A30 Audio System and Xbox One.

honestly follow these exact steps in the video. The only thing missing is that after everything is updated/ hooked up. On the adapter hold the + sign until it beeps. The reasoning is xbox one decided to send sound through either the optical cord, or the controller. So when you are hooked up like this, you will get an echo. Hitting the + sign disables the game sound through the controller. Easy peezy

Same steps still work with series X too. Instead of an optical out from Xbox I used a 3.5 mm cable from my monitor to optical in of astro.. everything works a charm. when I am on solo I just use the mp3 port to bypass mixamp and it sounds beast driving my vmoda sennheiser 598se . Thanks astro for still supporting it instead of Microsoft trash company which took out optical and using proprietary chip instead..

If you bought the new gen2 a40 with mixamp pro it does not come with the chat cable so you need to buy it.

If you are worried about wires you should buy the a49 with mixamp m80. It's wireless except for the cable from your headset to the mixamp. Which plugs in I your controller. Great sound. But it's stereo. In other words 2.1. But I can hear footsteps coming from all directions.

The current setup I have is Xbox one, Astro mix amp, Happauge HD PVR2 capture card, OBS and turtle beaches. I am able to get everything to my stream including music from PC, game sound, my voice and team mates voices but I am now getting the 3 second delay sound that my capture card or OBS is picking up. I have my turtle beaches plugged straight into the mix amp and if I turn down the capture card sound, it fixes the issue but now it mutes the game and chat volume that goes to my stream. Basically im hearing everything correctly through my headset, but then get the echo of what im hearing 3 seconds later from the capture card. Is there a way to mute what my capture card or OBS picks up, in my ear BUT still allow it to go to stream?

Because iv watched a bunch of other videos and they are saying to press all these other buttons on the headset adapter otherwise you might only be running the game sound through stereo and not surround sound.

Great explanation mate, this is just the vid I been looking for. I have little knowledge on audio etc, and in a position where I need some sort of MixAmp to improve sound quality from just being plugged straight into the Xbox one controller headset adapter. In my case I don't have audio out on my TV, and just connecting to the adapter on the controller, the sound quality is not as good. Can this MixAmp be used in this configuration with other headsets?

I have the 2013 A40s. Sometime in 2016 there was an update for the Xbox One and I was no longer able to chat with the headset. Called support, did a ton of research and never could get it fixed so I settled on using my Kinect for chat. Have tried several times over the years to fix the issue, hoping someone had found a fix. Went through troubleshooting and bought multiple replacement cables. After having recent chat conversations with Astro Support I have found out what I had always assumed. An update, either on Xbox or Astros side, has made chat with my headset not work anymore. The representative just told me that I should just buy a new headset and sent a link where I could do so. Apparently chat only works through USB now. It's so frustrating that everything worked perfectly fine and they break it on purpose, through software updates, to sell more headsets. Like I said, I can still use the headset for game sound just fine. It just sucks because it's up to each developer to decide whether it supports Kinect for game chat.

If you have the 2013 Edition, it wll work on both consoles after updating the firmware. If you have the the new TR Version made for the Xbox One, it will only work for game audio on the 360 and fully with the Xbox One.
