Thanks so much for this! I have been looking all over for how to make a hex pattern and could not figure it out. So simple after seeing it done, but would have probably never known to check that drop down. You don't know what you don't know... Thanks so much for posting!

Thanks you Lars, I just managed to create my first CAM setup for a simple lathe turning part. I now understand how the sequence of tooling steps comes together. The major problem I had before was that Fusion didn't understand that I wanted the Z axis to be left-to right. Now it all just works! OD turning, stepping down to another smaller OD, spot drilling and deep peck-drilling, then chamfering. You covered a lot in this video and I got a lot out of it. CAM isn't as scary now. Cheers!

Could you kindly provide access to the Fusion tool database with parameters? It would greatly assist hobbyists like myself using Fusion 360 for turning and milling projects. Thank you!
@elilco7 жыл бұрын
Lars good video! however the tool path on the live tools is great for someone who has a Y axis. what about someone who has live tools without a Y? the front angle on the part will have to be milled with the side of the tool using the X and the Z travel. you didn't touch on the importance of having a really good post for the machine you work on otherwise it's useless. it might look good in simulation but that's about it. Nevertheless it's a very good tutorial.

Hi elilco Thank you for watching! Yes, you are right I did not touch on other machine configurations...there are so many :-) And a good post is essential everyone!

Lars, thanks for the informative video. Could you make a video showing how to use live tooling to make flutes or pockets with live tooling on the X-axis using Fusion 360?
@plakumunac6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lars, thanks for the video. Assuming fusion 360 can do this, would it be possible to show how you would set up the combined cam paths for an action that milled and rotated the part at the same time? Such as if you wanted to create a variable pitch feed screw. (or point me in the direction of the correct video). Thanks!

30:50 u should do this by side milling, your z-axis should be the line on the face of your part... ;)

Hi ajfreeze215 Thank you for watching! I am assuming you have a M code for that operation on your machine? You can actually right-click on your setup and insert manual NC code. I think that is what you are looking for. Best, Lars

Why wouldn't you just rotate the spindle 90* and cut the angled face with the side of the cutter instead of using a slow 3d tool path?
@robertsomerville53774 жыл бұрын
it would be the best way to do the milling, but the machine needs to have Y axis capabilities.

it is safe to say miling is the same as four axis programming
@cadcamstuff7 жыл бұрын
Somewhat yes. Milling is when the tool spins around in a spindle.....Milling and drilling is almost the same....Drilling the tip of the tool removes the material. Milling the side of the tool removes the material. When it comes to programming mills, we talk about what axis are programable. XYZ would be three axis, XYZ-A or B would be four axis. Hope this is helpful
