Can I buy these phones and the poe switch and make my own voip system? My internet provider wants 300 a month to install these phones.

And keep my current phone number ?
@VoIPTelecom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, depending on how many phones that could be a high number or a low number. yes, you can buy all these parts yourself quite easily. however, you do need a bit of tech savy to setup the VoIP account part.
@littlelarry29126 жыл бұрын
thanks i will look into it. we only have 3 phones. My ISP wants 200 a month to add VOIP. Thought we could do it cheaper on our own. We are doing it to have a simple phone greeting and some prompts.

For cloud-hosted voip service, the going rate is about $15-20 (USD) per phone, per month.

So just to clarify I could use this setup at home?
@VoIPTelecom2 жыл бұрын
if you have a hard-wired internet connection for the VoIP phone - yes, you can. So, you would need an Ethernet cord running between a switch port on the router (or external switch) to the phone.

Can I connect my polycom vvx 101 in USA to another polycom in India using IP address?
@VoIPTelecom3 жыл бұрын
No, there has to be a VoIP server in the middle. But, you can set those up for free if you have the knowledge and patience. Asterisk and 3CM are common free VoIP server software.

Thank you for this info, I started with a factory reset on a vvx500 phone, changed the default password, and then updated it to the latest software version. I am able to program the vvx500 per your instructions and it registers the extension with Callcentric and works fine. My problem is that once my phone reboots, all the settings revert back to factory and I have to reprogram the phone all over again every time it reboots. Any idea what I need to do to make the phone retain its programming? I am entering the settings from the web interface for the phone (because its easier and quicker) and then saving them which sends them to the phone. Is this different than entering the settings directly into the phone from its touchscreen? I would think both methods would be the same. Thanks again.
@stevehoyt18943 жыл бұрын
I think I found the problem. Evidently even after doing a factory reset, there is still provisioning server settings in the phone and it looks like that overrides these settings you show us to enter. After I clear out the provisioning server data my phone still tries to provision when booting but gives a provisioning error message and then boots on up registering the extension with Callcentric properly now. I cant find a way to disable it from trying to provision so I keep getting that error on boot but it ends up working now and keeping the settings like it should.

How do I do a set up for MagicJack
@VoIPTelecom2 жыл бұрын
Ray, last I knew, you couldn't get the Magic Jack sip credentials out of the device. And, even if you could, it may be a violation of their terms of service. Just sayin... :-D

Mine didn't work and I followed to the letter :(
@VoIPTelecom3 жыл бұрын
Josie, sorry, that’s frustrating! it’s possible there is something about your network that could be blocking it. Some ISPs block VoIP traffic. On the slim chance that maybe you have access to another network, you could try plugging the phone in there.

When the phone came back up for me after doing the factory reset, it still asked for the old password. I tried entering 456 in the old password and it said it was too short.
