I have a man that I believe is controlling my life somehow with VOIP. I never get phone calls anymore yet people say that they call and I’m unreachable OR someone is pretending to be me because I don’t even remember having conversations they said was done. Also when I run my phone number on background check they show up as a VOIP number even though I pay att, sprint, etc. when I go to use my maps it’ll say “you’re back online” before giving directions… Does any of this sound plausible?

But why would you wanna connect the patch panel to a switch, rather than the patch panel directly to that router?
@VoIPTelecom3 ай бұрын
Switches are used to add network ports because routers usually only have 1 to 4 LAN ports on them. So, you could think of a switch being analogous to an electrical outlet strip.

If the phone isn’t turning on after plugging the RJ-45 into the wall or to the router, would getting the power adapter solve the issue? Or is this an issue with none of the outlets working I’m plugging it into ?

Never mind. I found the answer. Unfortunate that I cannot recover the password without having to do a factory reset. The gal who originally set up the phone is no longer with the company. Are there any other reasonably priced business phone vendors for a small business that you would recommend?
@VoIPTelecom4 ай бұрын
For phone hardware. I have had good luck with Metroline Direct. For cloud hosted VoIP (the service), VoIP.MS is pretty good and very reasonably priced. But the setup can be a little on the technical side.

This is helpful. If I do a factory reset in order to reestablish a password do I lose all current names an numbers in my Directory?

You keep referring to the router as the modem!!! You said that several times!!! Gotta get the terms right bra! Otherwise, your creditibility is completely shot! Looks like you're too nervous for some reason making this video and the words didn't come out correcly!!!
@beefcake03546 ай бұрын
exactly my thought. one of most-left is obviously for converting analog signal (via co-axial cable) to digital signal (ethernet cable), it is a modem. then shouldn't the 2nd box be a router? because if the first one is a modem/router, then what is the 2nd box for really? having 2 modems connected in series makes no sense.

Great video. The Polycom phones all have this hidden/special way to reset the phone to factory using the MAC when you dont know the Admin pass. That final screen after boot up where it asks for a new pass is a standard thing on later software versions so it forces you to change from the basic 456.

Is this a common issue with the VVX250's? I have one site that has about 60 of these and it seems like we replace at least 1 a week. Unfortunately, they were purchased in 2023 for this project and not installed until a few months ago, so they are out of warrenty. I've never had this issue with the vvx350 or vvx450 and I have a ton of them deployed. I've done the same testing as you before I found this video and I have the exact same issue. It will power up on the AC adapter but not on POE. The only difference is the lights flash and the display splashes Poly and then shuts down. I also notice that they all have a terrible high pitch sound that comes from the internal power supply while plugged into POE.
@VoIPTelecom7 ай бұрын
hi Walter, when I was working for a large cloud VoIP provider a few years ago, we used to sell a lot of these 250s, and I didn't notice it being a wide-spread issue (or, at least I didn't hear about it). I've had about 5 of these 250 models and only one unit had this issue. Your experience sounds horribly frustrating. And, sorry I can't offer more help.

Why not just switch to a paging system that can speak "SIP" and have it connect directly to the network via an ethernet cable or even wifi?
@VoIPTelecom7 ай бұрын
Yes, totally a better option. But, I see this ATA solution often because it's much cheaper. You make a good point though! 😊

@VoIPTelecom7 ай бұрын
I'm probably not the best person to ask, but with what I know I would probably start with Amazon EC hosting , then choose your sip pbx platform (ie 3cx), then decide on what PSTN carrier you use to route your customer's sip calls to/from.

You can run it in multiple configurations. In this case it was running solely off the SIMS.

Even better than this the newer unifi systems can identify the computer port as secondary and tag it with different vlans allowing you to use this setup and still have a clean voip lan
