Hi witch is the order from the videos?
@danielgx832 ай бұрын
its not in the video but you need to install roles and features >> file storage and >> shares & iscsi so that it looks like his server manager, this if you do it on different server which should be called FileSRV

Correct and noted, I'll make sure to mention it in future videos.

Hi, could you guide to create limited count of subfolders in main shared folder.

I got stuck at 4:49. My folder doesn't show up in the shares.

For this video, I had created those users and group to setup NTFS permission. You can use any users or group from your Active Directory or you can go with Domain Users built-in security group to setup permission. What exactly you do to share the folder. (means I want to know at which point you stuck in share folder wizard) .

@@MSFTWebCast Thank you for your quick response. I really am enjoying your videos. I know nothing about servers. I had been using a peer to peer network in windows 10 with just a small 2 person office, but decided to get a new computer running Windows Server 2019. Maybe I still need to install some features. But I don't know how to network with it, and thought your videos would help. All I want to do is network 4 computers.

A useful info upon creating those shared folders would be setting quotas also since users can allocate all c drivespace and WinServ stops working correctly if at all. Watched also your video of mapping a drive via GPO and neither there I found any info of quotas

how can be faster share folder permission larger folder?
@MSFTWebCast2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't understand your question. You can use icacls or Set-ACL PowerShell cmdlet to change the NTFS permission on the large folder. I think it will take less time compare to file explorer.

Permission: can edit content but can't delete file. Can you help me?
@psycl0ptic3 жыл бұрын
Why do you leave creator owner? I typically remove it.
@MSFTWebCast3 жыл бұрын
So the user who creates get full control. But its up to the requirement.

@@MSFTWebCast but then they own it and others can't edit it? I mean thats fine for users folders, but sucks for shared all company folders.

I have a question. I saw one company using weird sharing policy method. All client running under workgroup. but they are using domain user and group security to manage the shared folder... I can realize they someone cannot open others folder.. I know this only can run with client pc that join under domain.
