RIP Seve ... such charisma! A talented golfer who was adored around the world and certainly here in the UK.. not many foreign nationals leave their mark with the British people, only the very special ones do and Seve was certainly that. My dad's favourite golfer of all time (rip dad) 🙏

I always get emotional when I see videos of the grand senior, Seve. He’s my sporting idol. The way he played golf with that cavalier attitude is why everyone loved him. He was so wayward at times but still won tournaments, including majors, because he went for it. His short game was the best ever imo, including Phil. As Nick Price said, most pros have 100 ways to shoot 68. Seve had 1000 ways. His depth of skill was unmatched when he was in his pomp. That win at the 89 open-his final round was the best his great rival Faldo ever saw apparently. Not to mention his match play dominance at Wentworth and The Ryder Cup. He was amazing and when I have a club in my hand he always pops in my head. Via con Dios Seve

Oh yes, yes we do. Not only for the Open but what he gave the game of golf throughout. The US Masters, and also the Ryder Cup. When the miracle of Medinah was complete Jose Maria pointed to the skies, blew a kiss and said "that was for you Seve". Funnily enough so did I. And I still do for him.

I grew up idolising Seve. He inspired all of us to try to invent shots round the green. He had the greatest hands of any golfer I’ve seen. Great era and a great man. Still inspiring European golfers.
Dont seem to have golfers like him, some form of character that you love and inspires to make you want play, we seem to lack that pure passion that him and others had back then

What I miss about that era was that it emphasised creativity. The variety of shots Seve played, especially round the green made us all try the unusual shots we wouldn’t have dreamt of. For many it wasn’t the best way to a low score because we didn’t have his skill but it brought a new dynamic to the game. I still love the short game most of all and it’s all down to Seve. A hero to many of us.

The second shot into 17 at the ‘84 Open was, to Seve, the best shot he ever hit. Kind of ironic that it was not one of the shots in this piece. Golf in his era was the best! There will never be another Seve Ballesteros. I wish he could have played forever! I miss watching him play.
