U talking like Sentinels LCQ loss was the worst part of the short history of this team, and the cause of their downfall. But a lot of us were actually happy to see that Sen improved a lot and lost close series to the two best team in the bracket. Plus their LCQ run probably solidified their place in the partnership.

I think Sparg0's loss at Mainstage 2021 should be here. The kid was about to win his first major in an intense game 5 set against the best player in the world, but then he made one tiny mistake and got dunked on at 40%

Before I click on this, I think already know who is number 1. TI11 Evil Geniuses. Topped the group stages with only 2 legitimate losses from Team Liquid and 2 throw losses from Boom (coz they were already top seed during that time) and when it finally came playoffs, they gave the most disappointing run in TI history and lost 0-2 from both South American teams (teams known to be much inferior that NA pro teams) in such an extremely humiliating fashion. So TI11 EG should be top 1 on this list. No one can top off the disappointment tournament run that they have in any esports tournament I followed since 2014.

In terms of Dota, we can add something like TI4 DK flopping at TI because their strat got 'leaked', TI5 Secret flopping at TI despite their all star lineup, maybe even TI6 OG getting eliminated by a dark horse or Navi being so close to winning TI3.

Honestly the EG choke against Empire at the six major was pretty disappointing. I think EG was one round off winning it all, then Canadian went for the kill and dropped the round, and they got reverse swept by Empire

I think my disappointing Esport moment was 2019 NA CS. Mainly Liquid and EG. Both teams showed promise with EG beating Astralis at ESL Pro League and Liquid getting a Grand Slam, but disappointingly lost the Majors. Complexity showed promise early 2020 then COVID and Online CS happened then NA CS completely died.

I assume you mean 2019? G2 losing to FPX was only a disappointment because they were overhyped well beyond what was realistic. In fact, I think calling it a disappointment really does a disservice to G2. They were the best Western team we've ever seen (ignoring the first few seasons, which were kind of a mess), and they deserve a ton of credit for their performance at MSI and Worlds. If I were a G2 fan, I wouldn't be disappointed *at all* to have witnessed them play at the level they did. But the reality is that they were never even close to playing at the level of FPX. I think there was just too much attention directed at G2 and not enough given to FPX. This is largely because G2 had to beat two LCK teams to make it to finals, and any time a Western team comes out on top of an LCK team it's going to be hype. So it became this narrative of "if G2 can beat Griffin/SKT, then surely they can beat any team!" But the reality is that FPX always looked like the best team in the tournament. They crushed the entire LPL. G2 never really stood a chance. So I think it's unfair to call it a disappointment when the outcome was rather unsurprising (from an objective standpoint), and the fact that G2 performed as they did and make it that far is the opposite of disappointing in my book.

@@loldoctor For anyone wondering, almost nothing Ross said above is true to really any degree about that tournament haha, just false statement after false statement and a complete misremembering/retelling of the events of that Worlds. After winning MSI, and then making it through DWG and SKT to the World finals, they were near unanimous favorites to take home the West's first true Worlds victory in League of Legends, but then shockingly lost in a swift 3-0 to China's FPX.

No it was to be seen . Sentinals was basicly a streamer team depending on Tenz clutching it out on his 1 or 2 heros he can play . As soon as the game went to more tactic based and all his heros got nerfed it went down for them . Its not arrogance its just the to high focuse on Tenz fraging it out for them in a Game with peopl that are also mechanicly gifted even more then Tenz with better strategy .

Well, it was disappointing to their fans (which, being a clout team, they have a LOT). TenZ was touted as the best player in the world after their Iceland run. But then the meta shifted and Valorant tactical play finally came through. You may call their Iceland run a fluke, but then again it was a product of its time.
