I felt your pain with every loss you had. I love talking to my rats as they listen, unlike my kids. They have helped me with my low moods and I forget about all the bad things getting me down. I've managed to do some painting as I've been furloughed but like you other work can't be dealt with until after the lock down has been lifted. It's stressful and annoying but we will get though it. I hope you are keeping well. Keep your chin up and please stay safe. xx

I know exactly what you mean about rats listening, if only they could talk, but they give sympathy and comfort in their own way. I miss seeing those little faces in the morning, rats always want to be with you which is so nice. My rats were my reason to get up in the morning however bad I felt. I have not been feeling great over the past two weeks, it is hay fever time of year and being high risk I am feeling trapped at home with only a small garden. I have been busy catching up with InkTober and watching some live online art demonstrations. It is lovely to hear from you, stay safe. xx

I’d like to have rats too, but it wouldn’t be fair to them at this time. For now I’m living vicariously through other rat owners. Glad I have You Tube to watch and enjoy rat vids. Wish everyone was as thoughtful and responsible toward their pets as you are. Hope things start working out for you soon.

Thank you for your comments. I have always put the welfare of my rats first and I try to get that point across to others after meeting people who get rats and then find out they cannot care for them and did not do their research. So it is nice to talk to people who are prepared to wait until they are able to offer a secure home. I hope that it is not too long before you can get some rats of your own. x

I know how it feels to lose your lovely rats, last year I had to put my two rats down together. Not many people understand the love you can have for them but I was heartbroken. I found your channel a long time ago an I learned so much about rats. Now I have three male rats that I got from a very bad situation but they will have a good life with me. I did not plan to get any more rats after my two girls died, but something was missing, so I rescued them and reported the person I got them from (they were held in such bad conditions, all sick etc.) sorry for my english, greetings and much love from Germany :)

It is lovely to hear from you, it is always nice to know that my videos have helped someone. I am so sorry you had to have both of your rats put to sleep together, a double loss is very sad, even when it is best for the rats. We have had to do the same with some of our old sick rats. You did a really good thing rescuing the three boys and reporting the previous owner, I am glad they are safe and cared for with you. Your english is fine, no need to worry about that. xx

I just lost Michigan and Peanut, dumbo/fancy rats, the last of a set of five brothers. They'd just turned two. This was the fourth set of rats I've had over the years. I so much want to have more babies in my home but I've gotten so allergic to the rats I also have to take a break, especially with the COVID and my asthma. I totally understand what you're talking about. I miss having the rats to take care of and play with, and as I packed up the cage and their toys yesterday I was crying. I want you to know I feel for you and know what you are going through. The pandemic is making the loneliness so much harder. And you are so right. The grief is terrible when they pass, but after that all the memories I have of all the boys and girls I've shared my home with ... all those memories are happy ones. They are so worth saving and knowing. Hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your two boys and you have developed an allergy to rat hair. I thought I would let you know that you may be fine with rats with a rex coat, they do not shed hair like the usual rat coat. One of my vets had a terrible allergy to rats but she could safely handle my rex ratties. But with Covid and asthma it is not a good time to take on any new rats, my asthma has been very bad this year and being confined to the house without a car it would be difficult to get to the vet if I had any rats. I find myself crying about my rats such a lot so you have my sympathy. You have been a great support to me and my ratties so stay in contact and let me know if you do get any rats. It would be a good idea to find a breeder with rex rats and try handling them when things improve and it is safe to do so. xx

@@TaiChiKnees Rex rats have lovely curly, wooly coats, our rats, Matilda and Robb had rex coats, some people with allergies have hairless rats. x
