In the book of Genesis in the bible ( the very first book) God created the earth and finished creating it on the SEVENTH day. Basketball kinda makes people taller same way as swimming makes swimmers have wide shoulders and etc. There is a pattern of what develops depending on sport you are doing. But in basketball case, you do have to be tall if you want to reach the basket or outrun all those walking towers who only need like five steps to reach the other side of the court. I would guess that eventually players get sorted depending on talent and height. Can't claim that for sure, sadly am not a basketball player.
