Hey Good morning Seven! What a beautiful spot your in. Yea, the mouse and the wire harness! It must have good flavor or something! I don't know what to tell you there! I use my sprinter daily, one morning got to my office open the hood to check fluid levels, and a mouse came running across the top of the radiator! I could not believe the little guy took a ride from home! And was still able to find a flat surface to grab onto! On parked trucks/cars at home, I've been using "Bounce" dryer sheets, and placed them around the engine compartment, inside the cab, safe places, rumor has it they hate the smell. [I don't really care for it either] but so far no issues! I should check my vehicles more often. My neighbor had a classic BMW burn when he tried starting it, it started smoking, then burning, apparently mice had chewed the insulation on a wire harness, when ignition went on, it started to smoke! [Another good reason for Fire Extinguisher when out alone]. Oh yea, the hail! Another thing out of our control I guess! Do remember you have a Grumman Body, and it is really one of the best bodies! [My 79 Stepvan is Grumman it has survived alot of abuse, weather over the years!] Enjoy that great view! In my office wishing I were out there! Heat wave in CT too! Almost 100, but air quality very humid! Went kayaking just for an hour yesterday! Good weather for me to do office work I guess! As long as we have power and Air Cond! LOL! God bless! Enjoy the coffee too! Savoring the moments!

You can also do a LED strobe light under the hood. Very low power use and I understand critters don't like the strobe. higher altitudes can mean lower temps but also mean better UV protection...

Seven...think about this. Back in 2000, I bought a new Grand Am GT, right off the showroom floor. Yes, it was the display model for that car lot. Fast forward now about 2 weeks. There was a storm rolling in that day & the hail turned into baseball & softball sized rocks! I think you know where this is going! The hail did a lot of damage to a brand new car but...that's what comprehensive coverage is for. I think of that storm each time I see hail & presently I have a '16 Mustang. Hopefully, Mother Nature will be nice to me as it's her world, we just live in it.

I have a altimeter just like that one. They are unbelievably accurate. It takes a little vibration for smaller measurements. Something fun try, strand on your bumper and hold it over your head giving it little taps with a finger. Slowly bring it down and look where the needle is. Now hold it close to the ground and tap it again. The needle should have moved 1/2 a space. If I remember each space is 20 ft. I found it amazing that a mechanical device can measure pressure differential over that small of area.

Pbs severe weather program. Yes a wreck engine replacement or transmission replacement can cause total vehicle. Hence modular componets that can be relocated to another vehicle . 1. Bath 2. Kitchen 3. Power 4. Cabinets 5 bed system 6. Insulation system walk in cooler panels. 7. Rodent cage trap under your rig yea truckers report bug and rodent problems even over the road.

Yes sir, views like that are priceless and totally justify doin' things to accommodate seeing them. I'd say that gluing magnets around the opening would be the best way to go, but you'll know what best suits you. I love the heat, I've never been too hot and that includes south Texas in the summer. Humidity can be uncomfortable when it gets to be so much that you can practically see the air heh, heh. That spot you have is really nice, the air must smell wonderful. I can testify to the rodent nesting and chewing, couldn't say how many times I've seen nests inside vehicles. I would think that if you are moving around throughout your day the activity would help keep them from moving in. Maybe you need a cat or a dog to work that security detail? Heh, heh that may also come with it's own inconveniences though. You've got a fantastic, tranquil spot there to relax and complete some chores at a leisurely pace and I don't think the road below would bother ya too much. It doesn't appear to be overly busy at that moment anyway. The altimeter is a neat little gadget to have. Cool video Seven, thanks! .................................PEACE!!

Living Zeal..a young RV couple just had all their panels damaged by a hail storm there in Colorado. Their viewers immediately pitched in and got new ones for them! People (loyal fans) are a pretty wonderful group of people! People are so smart, there just has to be someone that thinks of a way to protect solar panels from hail! I'm wondering if Hail is a big by product for RVers while in Colorado! As smelly as moth balls are, you can put them in your motor (while parked), the lawn mower people also say moth balls keep rodents out! Mice are BIG at building nests & chewing up wire under the hood of a mower. I had a huge nest in my mower plus chewed up wires this Spring! Enjoy that beautiful area. I heard it's so dry there in the Mt.s that no one can have a fire. Is that still true? LOL Judie

Seven Wanders the World, moth balls are highly toxic, please do some research first 😘
@judyjudyjudy9593
@judyjudyjudy9593 6 жыл бұрын
Cheri Madlom....of course moth balls are highly toxic, so is toilet bowl cleaner, gas fumes from your car & furnace, drain cleaner, the Round Up that they are now using instead of plowing fields, the nuclear plants that supply us with the electricity we use, ant poison, guns, knives, drugs, the sun rays, jewelry is poison to some peoples skin, the materials they use in fillings for our teeth, the fluoride in our tooth paste has some toxicity, radiator fluid, there is a certain amount of arsenic in our drinking water, motor oil, aluminum foil, medications (I had a brain bleed, hemorrhage from a blood thinner prescribed to me, 2 weeks in a coma, 2 months in a nursing home), fertilizer, power tools, riding in a car with a teen driving...etc. This list could go on & on with things used daily that are much more dangerous than moth balls!! I didn't tell him to put the moth balls under his pillow or even IN the van....I SUGGESTED using them in his motor to keep vermin out of his engine & keep vermin from chewing up the wires in his motor causing mega $$$$ to fix! So you would rather he leave his hood up leaving his motor vulnerable to anyone coming along....and in the middle of the night, if he had to make a fast get away, you think he should have to close his hood first? The factories where solar panels are made are very toxic, imagine what the workers are going through! It never hurts to warn someone when you see something that warrants your fears, but I ask, how did you single out moth balls from all the thousands of toxic things we live with in our air every day? Moth balls have been around for so many years that I'm sure most people know, close them up securely, put them in a safe place & wash your hands after use, just as you must do after using many things around the house! I can assure you Seven knows how to use things that require some degree of caution!

hitchhiker didn’t mean to offend you (I apologize). I was only concerned the toxic fumes could enter his home. I am recovering from an autoimmune disease and avoid most of the things you listed. We can’t avoid all dangers, but always wise to know the dangers. Best Wishes
@judyjudyjudy9593
@judyjudyjudy9593 6 жыл бұрын
Cheri Madlom...I'm sorry I sounded offended, I really wasn't, I like to read other peoples thoughts on a subject. It never occurred to me that someone would have problems with moth balls. I am sensitive to a lot of things too, but....not them!!! I think (here we go) the reason why so many people have trouble with so much "stuff" (breathing) now days is because there IS so much stuff that have toxicity about them! Maybe! My eyes itch a lot and just give me fits, never used to. I have problems with whole milk, never used to. Can't wear eye makeup, can't wear a necklace anymore, burns my skin, big time! I am sorry you are suffering from autoimmune disease, it sounds like it could be very dangerous! I will be more careful when commenting back to watch my wording for offensive sounding wording. I like the thought that you would let someone know if you found something has dangerous inclinations! I would do the same....and have!!!! Thank you Cheri for commenting back...it has been nice talking with you!!!! LOL Judie

Consider "painting" the step van with Rhino Liner (or some other pickup truck sprayon bed liner). That will not only help protect the van from hail, but also branches, rocks etc - and the van will be quieter, including during rains and hailstorms.

Seven Wanders the World you set local pressure at take off and when flying low level, at a certain altitude you change over to 29.92 so that all aircraft are operating on same setting.

I wonder if adding something stinky (like mothballs) would have a deterrent effect on rodents eating your wires. As you know, it isn't an urban myth. They ate through the wires on my homes solar panels, too. Tech who did the repair thought probably raccoons in that case. I've since added a barrier, but don't think that would work in an engine compartment.
@SevenWanderstheWorld
@SevenWanderstheWorld 6 жыл бұрын
I suspect that may help a lot! I've never seen mothballs sold anywhere (but have never looked). is that a special order item or something you can buy at a superstore?

Magnets are going to be cleaner then velcro so easy solution is the strip of metal around the door. Don't forget your driver and passenger doors along with the vents by them for spots to cover also to get some cross flow going. The weaker the magnet the ticker the iron/steel needs to be to work so take one of the magnets in when picking the metal to test it in store at the precut metal section or find a HVAC place and see if they have any off cuts of sheet metal but be ready to sand/file the edges to round over. Only sure way to protect yourself from hail is to be under something to shield you. As you are mobile at the first sign of hail find an overpass to sit under till it passes. Gas stations are another option as long as you can fuel up at the same time and then clean your windows to drag out a few more minutes.
@SevenWanderstheWorld
