The kiddie pool drains in the beginning do seem to be a serious entrapment hazard. They are in shallow water creating visible whirlpools. This is happening where a kid could be swimming underwater right over it and get their hair caught in the cover The wavepool covers were outdated but so long as those outlets are all connected to one master pump then they probably are safe enough. The lazy river, while scary, are probably safe too. So long as the covers are secure those large ones are unblockable and there are multiple ones that likely distribute the suction in a safe way

@@wolvreigns I am not an expert, but most of these look safe, for two reasons; there are several next to each other, not one single one, so the “suction” is diluted across several drains, and secondly, the grating is designed in such a way that you cannot stick a hand or foot into the drain. Several states have passed legislation requiring swimming pools to change their drainage systems in order to make them safe, thus preventing the trapping of swimmers, and resulting injuries and deaths. I think one would have to check the regulations existing from state to state.

At 6:44 you can see the angled outlets that propel the river in circles, the water streams from them are very powerful and i had a very scary experience with these river outlets in a waterpark in Brazil. This waterpark where i was at had a lazy river, a really large one that circulated around the entire park and it had similar outlets however they wheren't divided in several 3" pipes, instead there was a huge, a HUGE single 10" outlet boosting water from the wall. I was trying to avoid the drains on the middle of the flooring, so the smart me decided to let the water carry me along while i was literally rubbing on the wall to avoid the drains, because they felt very powerful and i could feel their suction with my feet, being scared of drains since ever i was happily avoiding them by either swiming over but i was exausted so i decided to get by the wall instead... suddenly i felt this weird vibration on the water near my rib cage but it was too late, i passed literally one inch in front of a 10" pipe outlet, the power was immense and it kind of hurt my skin. The waterbeam was so powerful that it pushed me away really hard. My friends asked me why and how i swam frontwards so damn quick and started to laugh, they barely knew that i was scared shitless after passing right in front of a coverless 50hp waterpump. For a guy with a phobia of pool drains that was a little too much.

there was one similar to this in a tub it had jets and when i put my hand to it it sucked it but since it was only a few inches wide i can easily take it out then i heard and learned of delta p which is basically a drain now delta p is normally very dangerous and getting into it.now imagine there are two boxes of water and a tube that goes to each on along it and then a cover for it now if you remove it the water wants to go in on one side so if this was much much bigger such as a person cleaning a damm they would get sucked in and they would die in a few minutes or so and if someone try’s to help they may get stuck to so always be careful when cleaning out damms and drains it can cost your life.now to know more about this just look up delta p and it will show more in detail on this topic

@@amb3987 VGB drain covers prevent entrapment. They are usually much wider than the old drain covers that were like three inches in diameter. They have grates that are elevated so that even if someone lays flat on top of one, it has holes on the edge that prevent entrapment by the increased suction. Basically, they are practically impossible for a human or animal to fully obstruct. New pools often have two main drains, which is much safer as the suction will shift to the other drain if you obstruct one.

@@amb3987 if you get brave enough to get a closer look, you may find that it is domed a little. If it looks like a flat shower drain, it's not compliant. The cool thing is though, it's not terribly expensive to install a new, compliant one and you should replace the drain cover every ten or so years anyway. I see them for around $100, not sure how much they cost to install. I see a lot of DIY videos, so if you have a brave friend who can turn a screwdriver, you can save on installation. Then you'll have some peace of mind, I think. If I had a pool, I'd certainly never approach the drain cover unless I knew what kind it was and that it was in good shape. 😅😅😅

Shit, even if you purposely sit on one of them and the other one is clogged, the system will usually shut off I HATE pool drains. My biggest fear when swimming. Hey Andrew, so i know you can probably relate to this, When I’m in a spa or Lazy River, the drains scar/get me the most because its in a tight space, but in pools, not so much. Is that the same with you?
@Andrew_Bdish5 жыл бұрын
PlumbingFan Actually for me it's the other way around, I'm not real sure how to explain it but for some reason I just get more anxiety about the drains when I'm in a pool than when I'm in a hot tub or lazy river.

Someone should call the pool inspector on that water park. Some of those drains do not look like they are up to code.

If you look very VERY closely you can see turbines
@ochettekamishashan68146 жыл бұрын
Yes, sadly they have that shit in some pools
@RushGirnty195 жыл бұрын
Can someone please answer his question, why does it even have a turbine inside? Shouldn’t it just have a regular pipe? Btw I have a story, once I went to a summer camp and we went to go swim at this high school pool every week, and once I went into the diving pool and I always saw this creepy rusted vent and I tried to stay far from it but everyone Ik always talked about it. So one day we went and explored, we jumped into a swimming lane and I went under and got close to it, then I did the worst part which was looking inside. I looked in and saw a turbine of some sort and I swam up to the surface and started freaking out. Because when I saw it I saw the fan kept trying to move but it wouldn’t turn on. So I guess that’s my story. Someone pls answer the question though that would be awesome..

how are they unsafe Is it because of the suction?
@australiantransportvlogs51913 жыл бұрын
Multiple reasons. If a drain is small and someone sits on it the suction will cause a suction lock so powerful it can take six men to stop the suction. Another safety hazard is if hair gets caught in the grates and same happens to clothing.

@@QulexStorytimesOriginals_V2yes I know how wave pool works, I'm just terrified of grates even though its a saftey feature they suck it in with a vacuum-like thing then they release it that makes waves. And all wave pools have a saftey rope
