Definitely! I don’t know if you saw, but they posted a video on their Apple account of the city where everyone lives, and a lot had to do with Kier and Lumon, so it makes me think what if this was just them building cities for the innies, to possibly go out and live there. First start off as outies and then slowly integrate the innies into the real world. Also totally guessing here, but what if this is a simulation, all of it. Probably not, but would be interesting

The most interesting goat theory I heard, and I wish I remembered where so I could credit them, relies on the fact that goats historically represent malice, evil, stubbornness, and so on. I think in their efforts to create the perfect employee, Lumon are trying to remove that temperament or at least reduce it. That is possibly what MDR is doing when they refine the data, sorting out the malice (hence the “scary numbers”). Bit wacky but at least it’s not cliche and we know the writers are trying really hard not to be cliche.

Nice clip. I still had some Big Questions: - are Cobel and Helena on opposite sides of an internal factional or succession struggle? - how are the innies "tuned"? Eg Mark joins as a grief-stricken widower, becomes cheery and diligent. Dylan... Irv... Helly? - wtf is Jame Eagan's "revolving"? Is that some kind of soul download into Helena? Is he All The Eagans? - why did Jame tell Helena that the worldwide corporate vision was to turn everyone into children of Kier? - is outie land just another corporate quarantine zone? Why didn't Cobel break out? Loving the show. I think Ricken is being set up for his hubris to take him down.
@anolive75354 күн бұрын
Here's my take: - We don't know yet exactly what's going on between Cobel and Helena. Helena seems to want to get rid of her but Cobel seems to have some sort of leverage that stops them for outright firing her, instead 'promoting' her to a useless position. Interestingly Cobel seems to really just want to manage the severed floor and doesn't seem all that interested in removing Helena or superseding her position as a board/executive member. - Since the severance procedure severs outside memories from the inside, any trauma from the outside is 'forgotten'. This means innie Mark is (initially) outie Mark's core personality. It was likely what he was like prior to the death of his wife. - Yeah your suspicion about the 'revolving' being several consciousnesses stored on a severance chip of the next heir of the Eagan's is seems to be the leading theory in the fandom. It also explains why James seems to act so...weirdly. Almost like multiple people are fighting for control over his speech at the same time. - James did not know Helena was in her innie form (Helly R) so he said it to her. He said it as a sort of celebration/congratulations for Helena's work - like "thanks to your hard work now our evil company agenda can be achieved". - We're not super certain, though the company town that the Lumon HQ is in seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps there isn't any physical barrier stopping Lumon employees from leaving, it's just the massive distance from any other civilisation. Cobel doesn't 'break out' not because she physically can't - there's something internal that she's dealing with. Note that she only turns back when she looks at the oxygen mask, which seems to hold significant sentimental value for her.

One thing that didn’t cross my mind until now is why Lumon would need anything from Ricken. I’d have to rewatch the scene with Ricken and Natalie to remember what all they talked about vs what they told Mark’s sister, but it seems anything within Lumon is secluded from the outside world. They don’t need Ricken or his permission to create any written material-unless we’re to believe his writings, ideas, and teachings are that truly groundbreaking-so why is Natalie doing a house-call? I guess after writing this the answer may simply be to appeal to Ricken’s ego as an author and philosopher hoping that supporting him will in turn convince him to support Lumon and therefore Mark’s presence at Lumon.
@nikaknack5 күн бұрын
I hope that’s where it goes, at least. I would also really like to see, which is unlikely, but nevertheless is how maybe the innies find more faith in Ricken and how Lumon deals with it. Maybe there will be a remake of the Perpetuity wing lol with Devon and Ricken and Eleanor and maybe even Mark
@briankerr21023 күн бұрын

It’s def Helena. She didn’t even know how to turn on the damn computer. That should be second nature to a innie. Also how she was looking at the footage. Like she wanted her innies life. Yeah it was kinda weird. For a sec I thought that maybe she might even be working with Lumon, with the backdoor re-integration being some roundabout way to get what they want (what ever it is) though it doesn't really make sense. We know that the Lumon board are very interested in Mark S completing Cold Harbour, not firing him at all and even complying with his demands to have his co-workers back. We've seen through Pete that re-integrating an employee has severe (potentially fatal) side effects which would obviously just make completing Cold Harbour much harder.

Still very much love the show, and love your videos after each episode! I had the same question about why didn’t Helena try and steer him clear of the goat room idea, to avoid him discovering anything more, and a part of me thinks Helena didn’t know about the big goat room, and was as shocked to see it as Mark S. was? Maybe Helena is being groomed to be the next CEO mostly in name only, and only knows about half of what goes on in the Lumon Building?

Thank you for the support! Exactly my thought regarding Helena-they say she is important, yet she does nothing to stop him, and he actually does some work on Cold Harbour. But then, to Drummond, she says, "Are you happy now?" in Episode 2 which tells me shes not fully in control

there are a couple of shows where 1 season, a mini series, would have been enough. but i have this feeling on a lot of movies and shows where it feels like season 1 is laser focused, a clear vision with an end goal that becomes more unfocused as seasons go on. squid games, silo, white lotus, true detective, house of the dragon, succession and severance all had amazing season 1s and so far every season 2 of those have been pretty mediocre to disappointing. severance and the season 1 end with the helly eagan or marks wife foto twist could have been the perfect cut-to-credits ending in the vein of a black mirror episode.

In many of the recap theory videos people don't discuss Gwedoline Christie's right arm. She holds the sheers and then the bell that reminds me of holding a knife with the intent to stab/murder someone. The first thing she asks is if people she has never met were there to kill her. Why would this be the first question she asks in any environment if killing people wasn't normal or maybe even apppropriate? She wasn't isolated and expected people to help her when she rang a bell. She couldn't defend herself with a pair of sheers, especially the back end of device. The only people who were dressed anywhere near "appropriate" for what they werre doing in that section of the building were her and the man in the goat suit. I think most of the people in the Mammalian Nurturum were severed goats whose innies were recorded on the sevvy chips that got implanted into human bodies. The goats and the humans there are test subjects, and the goats innies have been used several times. That's would explain the goat sized human hallway, why most of them didn't speak, why Ms. Casey would meet with them in husbandry tank instead of set up any adjacent unused office as another wellness center, why a vending machine is in the middle of a pasture, why no one seemed to care that their clothes and bodies were filthy but also not ideal for being there (office attire for ranch work, not the most physically matched for ranch work). It would explain why the first question was are you to to kill me, but she didn't run or attack or seem afraid. It may even explain why Ms. Cobel ran in the final scene because recognized in Helena and the driver what she (Ms. Cobel) had done multiple times.
