The mystery man in the opening scene is absolutely the Severed Floor security guard who died. He has been resurected by MDR the same way Miss Casey and eventually Kier (praise!) are being resurected by MDR.

No, in the credits "man in hallway" is credited as actor Adam Jepson. He is much younger than the actor that played Grainer. When you search the actor he is listed as having a recurring role in the series though.

Dunno theres much severance could do with someone who had their brains bashed in. What exactly is left to sever?

I wish all TV shows would put more love into these “extras” - at one end of the spectrum is this, where the question is fun but the people on screen have no planning and no idea what to say; no prompting. At the other end is even worse, the Hollywood cliché of a scripted piece to camera, typically by the actors not the writers, and instead of saying something that wasn’t in the show, they just get given a plot summary as if it’s an advertisement - confusing ads with extras. What you REALLY want is the writers on screen, with preparation to have an answer ready (scripted or not scripted), but something clever to say maybe, but certainly something new to say - something that wasn’t in the episode you just saw. Being a hint without being a spoiler. The best at this are Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies.

I find Ben taking too much credit for “Severance” - Dan Erickson is the man behind it. Sure, Ben has brought money, ideas and good direction, but I wish Dan was featured more. Severance would not exist without Dan. Period. Not having Dan as part of the after show is a little mind blowing to me.

You seem very triggered by a situation that has nothing to do with you. Perhaps you haven’t been given enough credit in your life and you’re transferring those feelings onto a situation you know nothing about? It’s fairly common for the studios and producers of very expensive TV shows to decide on the best media strategy to boost their shows. As an EP, Dan could have insisted he be a part of the rollout strategy, but clearly he didn’t. Perhaps someone who writes for a living didn’t want to undergo months of media training for no additional incentive, especially when his boss is famous and media trained, and just as capable of helping to rollout the show ensuring Dan makes even more money on his idea than inserting himself into a process he cares little about just to satisfy your ego…I mean his.

I agree. Dan should be included more often in interviews.

I think he’s featured less because he’s the writer, so he knows the specifics and goals and where it’s going, basically he knows too much, so you put the show runner and stars front and centre because they can only let slip a limited amount of stuff by accident or slip of the tongue, but can’t do spoilers for future seasons.
