I am very grateful for all of you guys' support. I feel I'm in the very best of hands with Dr. Joe and i can't wait to share my journey with all of you. Thanks again for your support. It has given me the strength and confidence to continue with these painful, yet necessary procedures. See you guys in January. God bless

My father had Spondylitis during his years of 27-47, after which progression suddenly stopped. His mobility was severely limited but could still function. During those 20 years of progression the inflammation was excruciating, while the bones wanted to fuse together in his neck, back, hip joints and rib cage. Luckily the progression was slow and he did not end up as bad as this patient is now, but his head did stick forward somewhat.

@Nate W you have to follow it up with physio after, reason being is it's your muscles that slowly pull you back to how you were if you don't correct the muscle balance... Go chiropractor then learn which side is the imbalance and work on those muscles and stretching the opposite side

@Norah Elaine may I ask have you been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis? I think that chiropractors are valuable and help people in managing their bodies. When people have been in car accidents, have had falls, and broken bones they are useful long after the physical therapy has stopped. But for some diseases (like Ankylosing Spondylitis), it is not appropriate to seek chiropractors services which can do more damage. (I know this from first hand experience.

I am 48 with AS, got diagnosed at 24 after a hip fracture. I truly feel for ya man! I had a similar experience as you posture and situation. Being a single parent with a daughter having this disease is the very definition of tough! I couldn’t keep a job though, and one look at my slumped over posture after a job interview, instantly a liability. On Enbrel Biologic treatment. This is so rare of a disease that little to no research for treatment is done, since bone fusions are irreversible. Stay strong and optimistic, and keep active. Aquatic therapy works wonders for pain and flexibility.

Hey man ... I have had it since a few years after a motorcycle accident when I was 18 where my pelvis / sacrum were smashed..... i'm 68 now and have fought it all my life. . The best treatement for this disease is exercise . It helped me to stay ahead of it . They say it can also burn itself out which I think happened with me .. i'm not slumped over but now its flaring up in my next same as this poor guy .... I have an inversion table which helps a lot ... when I first inverted it was quite painful but helpful at the same time ... a hot bath prior to inverting really help and I can feel my back cracking all the way down ... also when i've had a flare up .. pain shooting down my leg ... chiropractor can usually fix it in one or two visits .... ALSO if I take a couple of advil OCCASIONALLY ... the inflamation subsides which makes it easier for me to exercise ... pop my vertibrae on the inversion table ..... Hope you do well brother and surely if the Dr reaches out to me I'll help this man with a treatment ....

I am 60 years old next month and was diagnosed with AS at 25, although I had symptoms when I was in school. When I watch this it really brings it home how crap AS is and has affected my life. I am in pain every minute of the day and night. Because I’m generally healthy AS comes with other downside as well as the bone issues I’ve had Uveitis, Psoriasis and inflamed bowel. I live in UK and was put on biological treatments about 15 years ago which literally changed my life for the better within days thanks to our NHS. I know these treatments when they first came out were extremely expensive but know they are cheaper than they were. The treatment in this video looks brutal but wish I could have it done I feel like literally being pulled straight every day. I’m retired now but managed to work in my job for 30 years to get my full pension. I have grandchildren and a pretty normal life. Although it’s hard there was light at the end of a seemless tunnel and none of my family see me as disabled or treat me differently in any way which probably helps. I do feel conscious when out and about because of my posture and worry when I people possibly think I’m rude by not looking directly at them but I have zero movement either way in my neck so have to do a complete body turn to face people. Any younger people watching this who are unfortunate to have been diagnosed with AS take it from me as I regret not doing more you MUST MUST keep active and stretch every day to stop those bones from fusing. Thanks for showing this video

So sorry about the pain you have endured. I've been diagnosed since 2011 and have kept active. My grandma and her sister had severe hump backs. My aunt (grands sister) unfortunately died as a result of her spine fracturing. My father has controlled his pain through exercise his whole life and is in amazing shape. You wouldn't ever guess he gas had pain. Its a true testament to stay active. It's just so hard to PUSH through that pain when you just want to curl up and rest. I thankfully no longer have narrowing of my vertebrae since seeing a specialist like the Dr in this video. There NEEDS to be more drs like them. SO many people go through pain silently that don't have access to specialists like that. Its a shame. Im happy you have a treatment that helps but I also hope you can find a therapy that will help your movement ❤🖐

I'm sorry to read that you're in pain it is a horrendous disease which the NHS isn't properly equipped to diagnose quickly. I started feeling unwell in the Summer of 1979 when my legs and hips would get very stiff preventing me from sprinting properly. After decades of mysterious stiffness - uvitis and rashes over my face and chest things started to get bad in 2017. Although the X-Ray of my thoracic area showed fusion. It still wasn't diagnosed and my doctor told me that everybody gets osteophytes as they grow older. Even a pain specialist missed it when he reviewed my MRI in 2017 and unfortunately the disease continued to progress and in the end I was in so much pain. I could barely get out of bed. Thankfully it was fully diagnosed in 2019 and I was put on a drug called imraldi which got rid of the inflammation but I was left for the damage but a huge amount of physiotherapy has got me fairly mobile and in less pain. I have axial spondyloarthritis which means that it went into my shoulders big toe Achilles tendon area jaw top of my cervical spine it just gets everywhere. I hope you keep fighting it. I just wish that they had diagnosed early and got me on the biological medicine before any major damage had been done

Brian, as someone who also suffers from AS I hope you are able to continue to find effective treatment and relief. As many others have already commented, I would highly suggest that in addition to any chiropractic care, you also talk with a rheumatologist about biologics. Enbrel has made a miraculous difference in my life as it has put my AS in remission so that I no longer have chronic worsening pain. The fused bones aren’t fixed, but the inflammation can be stopped and the tightened muscles can eventually be relaxed. Best wishes to you and I truly hope you are able to have as full a recovery as possible.

It's hard, but with exercice and movement, it's the key to a free pain life. I couldn't walk sometimes because of the pain in my hips but now it's just a bad souvenir. In the Seignalet diet, I mainly took the advices of gluten free and lactose free lifestyle. Plus, I eat as less as I can mais, corn, and fried foods. Now I consider myself as gluten intolerant as I can not eat it anymore without throwing up and having inflammation in my whole body. Just give it a try, personally it took 2-3 mouths to be very effective.

@@karinah4008 i do anything that promotes flexibility and strengthens the my posture. I also think about how my body is feeling day to day. For me I’m not as stiff I’m the mornings as I am in the evening. My regimen is as follows. Wake up 5-530am large glass of water and rip a small dab. 15-30 min: Meditation and breathing exercises set the tone for my day. Taking the time to expand and contract your chest/rib cage with purposeful breathing. I’d recommend reading and researching kriya and tantra breathing techniques. It will do wonders for you mental health. 2 mile run or bike ride to the gym. I will continue my breathing exercises throughout my workout. Find the rhythm and don’t stop. 1 hr at the gym. I never take more than 30 seconds of rest in between exercises. No more than 10 sec between reps. At the the end of my workouts I love to hang from a pull up bar, add tons of extra weight to the lat pull down machine and let it stretch my arms and shoulders and spine. If you can find a way to hang upside down every day do it. I have some old school inversion boots. Some people call them gravity boots. I will hang for 30 seconds at a time 5 or 6 sets. I also use something similar to a y strap with 10lbs on it around my head. This give me the most relief. But be careful and always have someone help when doing this. I also use a wooden broomstick placed across the back of the shoulders with arms extending out to the ends. I rotate back and forth gradually increasing my rotation from right to left. This is great for mobility from the shoulders(cervical) all the way to the hips(lumbar and sacral). 15 min swim 30 min tread water. Head to work Like I said I’m much stiffer at the end of the day so I do yoga around 7-8pm usually after dinner. I have found that this really relaxes me and improves the quality of my sleep. Also if you can afford to get a massage(ashiatsu is my favorite) or cupping done 2-3x a month(You may be able to get this covered with insurance as preventative care). I have been getting 1 X-ray a year to track the progression of my disease. My thoracic and cervical vertebrae are the most affected. Even with everything I have listed above. My spine is on fire and it usually feel like a giant has one finger between my leg and two other fingers on my shoulders by my neck just squeezing and compressing my spine. My advice to you is start figuring out what works for you. Some people are more affected in the hip, sacral, lumbar. The sooner you start managing this hopefully it will progress at a much slower rate over time.

My husband has AS and he’s had so many people make comments to him about his posture, to “stand up straight,” or they’ll ask him why his neck is like that. After he had his hip replaced he had a handicap parking permit for a bit and people would say things to him about parking in the handicap stall just because they thought he was young and didn’t need to park there.

I was 22 when I was diagnosed with AS, I'm 40 now. I was lucky to have the amazing doctors I have, they have managed my condition the whole time. I also have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy aka RSD and Fibromyalgia. I remember one time I went to my doc appointment and had x-ray done as a standard thing and the x-ray techs looked horrified. They asked me if I had been in a car wreck on the way there. I had two fractured vertebrae, I told them all I did was wake up get out of bed, got dressed and drove to my appointment. I always say my back feels like a stained glass window, a bunch of shards just being held in place. When I turn my neck sometimes it feels like my vertebrae is broken and its catching onto another piece making it stop. If I rotate my head in a circle you can hear a pop or a crunch as it all gets pushed back into place. I'm on disability because I cant work, I don't know how this poor man does what he does, his back is far worse than mine and mine is far far from good. He is a hero.

How is it life-changing? You get some immediate relief from these "adjustments" (not really adjusting anything) but that's about it, couple of days if you're lucky and the pain comes back exactly like before. You can't fix these problems by cracking some bones.

My heart aches for this guy and I sincerely wish him some relief. About two years ago, at the age of 55, I noticed a sudden drop in strength, endurance and flexibility. After a long series of tests with multiple doctors, a rheumatologist said I had arthritis. One of his tests found that I have the gene that causes ankylosing spondylitis. Although AS generally strikes in the teens and 20s, I am worried that I am one of the outliers and this could be my future. For selfish and selfless reasons, I want this man to get some relief.
