SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND LIGHTNING STRIKES HD 720p

This part of the storm was recorded @ 330pm on 7/18/12 and lasted about 20min. The whole storm went through all of eastern MA, all of RI and some portions of CT. This is in South Weymouth, MA outside my house. The storm is still going on here @ 530pm and will last until maybe 7pm. At around 3 minutes into it you can see a great lightning strike. But feel free to watch the whole thing!

Man, when you hear the "snap" as the lightning hits, that is CLOSE!! I like him saying "Get the dogs out of here!" Hell, my dog would have been under the bed sev minutes back! LOL

+b3j8 yeah we were just worried it would hurt the dogs ears due to them being right near the open door. Our dogs love the thunderstorms very weird lol. most dogs ive come across hate thunderstorms and run and hide.

+Zachary Leavitt We also have a couple cats and one of them will usually sleep right thru storms so I get it. lol But our dog is gone the minute she hears that first rumbles of thunder. Hope nothing was damaged around your house, incl the house.

My last Guide Dog, Zahara loved thunderstorms. She especially loved to go outside during heavy rain showers, and after a good soaking, I'd let her dry and give her a thorough grooming with two different brushes and a comb. I think it made her fur softer, too. I just love those bonding times. I've had four Guide Dogs and hope to get another one if I can find more opportunities to travel and volunteer. What breed(s) are yours?

She's an Amstaff(American Staffordshire Terrier) mostly, w/a couple others thrown in. Wonderful dog, and tolerates the cats just fine. LOL Cats are mixes ended up at our door over the yrs.

wow, huge amount of lightning, for me that makes the storm. great for videoing since this storm did not have torrential rain or wind noise. seeing that much frequent cloud to ground lightning is pretty rare. a treat to be sure, thanks for sharing!

One of those afternoon or evening summer thunderstorms! I used to live in Central Florida from 1969 to 1971 on Florida's space coast. Are you by chance familiar with Florida at all? It's called the space coast because it's near the famous and historic Kennedy Space Center where they used to launch the space shuttle vehicles from. We lived in a city named Satellite Beach,Florida which is about 30 or so minutes from the space center. My late father was in the Air Force and was stationed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. But we lived in the Patrick AFB housing units. Anyway, we had quite a few of these storms during the spring and summer months.

Again, Zachary..this is quite an OOTW-Tstorm video ((OOTW = Out Of This world))...from 7/18/12...almost 3 1/2 years ago.... And I was able to directly put the thunder from video onto audiotape here...so I can hear the huge thunderclaps right out of my tape recorders/tape decks/stereo... BTW..not sure as to how you did in 2015..but 2015 brought me some big Tstorms here in southern RI.... and I have these videos from last year all on KZbin.: 3/26/15, 6/23/15, 7/1/15, 7/15/15, 7/27/15, 7/28/15((with hail and a tornado warning alarm..)) and 8/4/15..where much of southern CT, all of RI and southeast MA were literally hammered... so Zachary..if/when you can catch my 1/3/16-SUN morning posting here..love for you to check out my own videos..and maybe put mine also on audiotape, heeeheee...

Even though I've listened to this one before, I still can't believe how crazy that lightning was! Fantastic thunderstorm. Maybe you might want to wear ear plugs if you get more like that in the future. I know how hard it is not to comment during these lightning strikes, too. I'll bet you told yourself that you'd keep quiet while you were recording. Hah!

I sure don't think I could have. I can't get over those two amazing lightning strikes, especially that one at around 3:00. I have a friend who lived in Connecticut, and her house was hit seven times directly by lightning. What's with the state of Connecticut that they can get such huge lightning strikes? I thought they were bigger in Florida, but now I don't know if Connecticut's lightning storms are bigger.

We are lucky to get 10% of the same loudness during a very rare UK thunderstorm. 35 this year and I've yet to see an impressive storm in the Northeast of the UK. This stuff is crazy. we had a storm awhile ago where the lightning wasnt that bad, or so i thought. It hit the pole right by the street, sparks flew, power went out, blew a bulb in my bedroom light (it seperated from the base) with a POP! also my cable modem's power adapter died... power was out till midnight when NIPSCO replaced a burnt section of the cable to the transformer box.. it was fried!
