On the evening of Wednesday, May 22, 2024, a severe thunderstorm moved through the Montreal, Canada region. The severe thunderstorm warning for the area sounded at approximately 8:30 pm Eastern Canadian Time.
This was my first severe thunderstorm that I filmed in 2024.
The storm mostly impacted the southern part of Montreal and the South Shore / Montérégie region, but also effected other parts of the region such as Laval and the West Island of Montreal.
High winds, heavy rain and intense lightning were observed. Multiple power outages occured as well in the area.
In this video, I'm filming under the Butler Spur track on Wellington Street just beside Verdun. This is located in Southwest, Montreal just before the Champlain Bridge and Île-des-Sœurs (Nun's Island).
I managed to capture some nice lightning strikes and I even edited some into slow motion for interesting effects.
Note: I decided to put the later lightning scenes towards the beginning of the video as it seemed to produce more lightning later in the storm. The video clips are not in order for the most part. However, the final clip of the street full of water was the last clip I filmed before going home.
This video was filmed on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 starting at approximately 8:47 pm Eastern Canadian Time.
