Severely, ASTHMA! - Episode 5: Young, Active Asthma, Pontus' story

Pontus Odemyr is a 22 year old substitute teacher and parkour instructor, living in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. He lives with severe asthma and food allergy since he is a child. In this #SevereAsthma video, he tells us his story of what it is like growing up with severe asthma, and how he feels after the transition from paediatric to primary care.
As a young and very sporty man he follows a strong credo: “People have to look at what I can do and not what I can’t do” - and what he does is indeed impressive.
Severely, ASTHMA! is a 2018 a video series portraying six real severe asthma patients and their families throughout Europe, each bringing a unique insight on diagnosis, care, social and family life, being young with asthma, participating in research and living with air pollution.

i have asthma too and i have been running ultra marathons and full marathons every single year for the past 15 years. The more you trained, the better stamina you have and thus, your stamina will help you fight your asthma.

Dr. K.P. Buteyko once said: “To test the validity of the scientific discovery we made almost 30 years ago, it takes 30 seconds of time: offer an asthmatic hyperventilation - he will have a suffocation attack, offer to reduce breathing - will relieve the attack. The cause of the asthma attack is hyperventilation of the lungs, no one said this before our scientific research. And so I have been asking scientists for 30 years to spend 30 seconds to check this (1986).”
